Prayer of a Dying Child

I lay my head upon my grave
I pray you Lord, my soul please save

My eyes are heavy, it's getting dark
Death's bony fingers shall leave their mark

I know this prayer is my last chance
I fear Death's shadow shall soon advance

It won't be long now, 'till I fall
Save me Lord, or end it all

Author notes

I was inspired to write this during a lecture at a Law Program. It prolly would have been a better idea to listen to the lecture, but i like this little poem so I think it was a fair trade.

Awwww......I really like this poem....I was like wow awesome and such imagery....but then I READ the title and it's a child's prayer about dying and to me that's sad! Although you hit it right on the money with this poem....I enjoyed reading it even if it is sad! Keep up the good work!

But who wants to listen to a lecture? ^___^ Great poem. It's simple and short, but it delivers it's message loud and clear. Thanks for sharing.
