The Albuquerque
For Charles (Onfire4Jesus)
He was waiting so long
for his orders to come in
he was so anxious for
his assignment to begin
You see he is a brave sailor
a darn great one too
in four years he's yet to sail
upon the the ocean blue
Circumstances beyond
his control kept him on land
he was sick for a long time
then operated on his hand
He will report tomorrow
to a naval submarine
named the Albuquerque
so sleek and pristine
He will begin training
till the end of the year
then it's under the sea
for my friend so dear
He will sail from port
and dive deep below
to depths unfathomed
this fine sailor shall go
My heart will miss him
he is like a son to me
a caring young man
always there for me
I will miss him dearly
his songs and his smile
and traveling to see me
will now end for a while
I will think of him often
and miss him so much
but letters and emails
will keep us in touch
When it is time to sail
take a piece of my heart
keep it close to you son
while we are far apart

Charles , you have been a son to me and I am so honored you call me Mom. You have been there everytime I stumbled in my faith. You have helped me become a better Christian and stronger in my faith. I shall miss our Bible studies when you leave. I shall miss you son. I am so proud of what you have overcome in your life and what you have done with your life. I hope the next 4 years are wonderful for you. Make God keep blessing you and keep you safe from harm. I love you and will miss you. Take care, I know how clumsy you can be.

This is a fast attack submarine, which is what I spent my time on. I'm proud of my service and I am sure he is also. It is a SAD bit for him to have had complications getting to where he would serve, but, life in its strength leads us to accept the bumps and bruises. I am sure he has done well.

This is a great poem...and I`m sure he feels the same for you too! Our family got a great surprise this week, my brother came home from Iraq for a visit but will have to return next week but the time we shared will always be in our hearts as I`m sure yours will too. I hope his journey is all he has been waiting for and I`m sure he will have many stories to share with you when he gets back. E-mails are a great way to keep in touch!!! We will use snail nail, appropriate name for a subs mail. and they will recieve it when they surface every 2 weeks by helicopter . They get it delivered with supplies And when in different ports he is allowed to email twice a week and call. So it won't be too bad. I shall miss him though. He is a part of my family now. a well-written poem sandy - but don't worry, i'm sure he will be in safe hands. you've made me wonder whether a submarine should actually go to unfathomable depths; i mean, it doesn't sound sensible! and also, i don't think you can send emails from the bottom of the sea. well, perhaps... i don't think so though :-p

Such a beautiful portrayal of your friendship within this poem. His fellowship you can realy tell how much you shall miss it. There is nothing like a greaat brother or sister in the Lord to spend time in the Word.
