on the corner of Tib Street
She had lulu lips and jitter-bug hips
I liked the way she stood
there
slightly high and legs askew
Sling-backs clattering on the cobbles
as she sorta' tapped her way
through mindless
chatter
told her
her dress was pretty
such satin and lace
must be hard to find
wanted to touch it
crawl up it
but the sneer in her eyes
beguiled me
She said she'd heard of me
but her addictions paled inside
she didn't need me
but for some
inadequate reason
I needed her
begged her to see
me-
held the corner of my coat
hoping I could touch the hem
of her dress
Just because her lulu lips
smeared a small hint
of something
other than disdain
for my sorry tears
sobbed down Tib Street
clutching my despondency
tight to my chest:
She told me
that her name was
- Guinevere
Should I ever recall the night
I started bemoaning my life
at the stark black satin
wanting so much to stain
it with my tears
in her beauty
I felt peace
In conversation
late in the hush of the city
Tib street meanderings
with Guinevere and
me
Author notes
This is purely fiction...
well .. almost
but it's dedicated to shadowtiger's muse Guinevere, who is quite beautiful and feisty too..
Suzi.. I hope you approve my friend

Ah that is how it is done...you can do it so well, me...words will scream and kick when I try to squeeze them out.
Loved the 'casual' feeling of your poem, classy casual with everything that is necessary to make of a poem such a damn good read!

How could she not, Guinevere would be proud.

What a great example to use for your contest!
Off to read more.

you bring guinevere to life with this word painting, and you truly let me see and understand her as a muse.

thankyou Charles...
for your wonderful words -
hook, line and sinker dear. this is great. i love the first person view. it really leaves me wondering who this person is. is it you? you've painted a dark if not rather seedy image of guinivere, which i like alot. there is an angsty darkness about her. a realness. just like i know a woman like this of have at one time. this makes this story so... engrossing and captivating. i would buy a book of serial poetry like this.

excllent~
Another brilliant poem portrayed with Guin
In this poem she came across to me as cold and unforgiving hoping I am reading this right...
Wonderful imagery you have here once again with this lady
Love n hugs

Wow, the flow is near seemless. It is a story, and yet a poem. I love you're work. Never stop penning, other wise the world would lose such a grand mind. That and the fact that this is based on someone else's muse makes it more aspiring. Keep it up.

Thankie ma'am...

absolutely fabulous

This has nothing to do with the Guinevere you read about in historical lit.
Perhaps if you had read the author comments you would have known that.
-
I named her Guinevere, my friend here asked if she could post a convo with her..and I'm happy to let others talk to guinevere at will.
-
hehe, what a sassy and 'hard to get' girl. i love every line of this! and i love that you named her Guinevere...anyways i wont babble on , great job!
-
great
very well written i like it very much but i dont care much for guinevere in historacal lit... but i think u did a very great pome thank u for letting us read it.. -
I am not familiar with Guin, but I like this piece - after reading it, I felt I could see her and I definitely could feel the bored apathy in her...nice work, Gill.

Everyone should have a Guinevere
-
What I like about being around here is that I do not feel quite as daft as people make me think I am in real life. I think I now almost 'get' Guinevere. I loved the images this conjured for me. I am going to make a place for Guinevere on my planet.
-
Aaaaaah...the lure of Guinevere, so much charm lies behind that disdain ( and even though a mythical figure she is like the rest of us ) what we see is not always what we get. We have to dig dip and sometimes touch that satin and lace , or pretend that we did
Happy meanderings down Tib Street my friend

good job
This is very risqué and yet very demure at the same time. I think you've stolen a muse. Very nice all in all. -
Indeed.. a three way.. convo with all..
now that would be cool
-
Desi...feel free to borrow Guin if you like..I'll add it to my collection page if ya choose to, would love to see a Darkk style poem with Guinevere in it
-
You nailed her, Gill. She is like that..and i love her disdain...she offers no pity for tears, really, but her madness distracts from sadness that weighs us down.
Borrow her when you need to...I know she has been a world of good for me. 'started' bemoaning my life..not stared hehe...and hmm..i think no ; before you told her her dress was pretty..but you did a beautiful job
-
it's always fun to play with characters...and doing a cross connection sorta like they do on the soaps. I think it's a great idea and should be done more. Like maybe Des'll pay you guys a visit soon. lol. Loved this one Gill and the connection with Guin is natural and entirely possible. Magnifique

he he he .. I bet suzi will approve.
Nicely done, gil .. fiesty and coy. -
Hot and Chilly!
As I said before Chilly by name but warm and sensuous by nature.Fabulous description of Guinevere who I can almost visualise through your great imagery and raw but warm words.A truly great write! -
Should I ever recall the night
I stared bemoaning my life
at the stark black satin
wanting so much to stain
it with my tears
Yet in her beauty
I felt peace
This was a wonderful stanza, a wonderful write with great descriptions, you have done a wonderful job on this. thanks for sharing it.
