time can't erase
your face..your face
I close my eyes
I feel your thighs
pressed tightly round me
I hear your sighs..your sighs
I can't escape
the spell you've cast upon me
I miss your perfume on me
it lingers in my mind...
I can't not think of you
when all I want to do
is be so close to you
I can't breathe
I can't not see your smile
it's with me all the while
I can't not cry without you
I can't not die without you
I can't get along without you...
I can't write this song without...
you
Author notes
Inspired by "The Blower's Daughter", a hauntingly beautiful song written and sung by Damien Rice.
Here are the original lyrics:
And so it is
Just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
Most of the time
And so it is
The shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her skies
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...
And so it is
Just like you said it should be
We'll both forget the breeze
Most of the time
And so it is
The colder water
The blower's daughter
The pupil in denial
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...
Did I say that I loathe you?
Did I say that I want to
Leave it all behind?
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you...
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind...
My mind...my mind...
'Til I find somebody new

G'DAY my soul sister, I thought I commented on this. It's a beautiful piece that does make you want to sing a long to it. Very lyrical and very romantic sounding

It does read like a song. It conveys a strong love and attatchment to another - one so strong that the two are one.

I couldn't listen to the Damien Rice song.... but it doesn't matter. This piece works well as a poem in it's own right. I like the simple way it says what you feel...... and seems to reflect my own emotions at the same time. Well done.

Thanks, Sis! The first time I heard "The Blower's Daughter" was in a montage for Constantine Maroulis that one of his fans made. The video has scenes from the movie "Closer" (which wasn't very good) but I got to see who Damien Rice, the Irish singing sensation is. He's very popular due to his album "O" which went 'triple platinum' in Ireland before we heard it here in the US. I think the video is distracting..the song has more of an effect if you just listen to it. Hope Bruce fixes your computer so you can hear it!
Love Ya!

i have to agree with hugh.the song is hauntingly beautiful but your words appeal to me much more.i think that they carry a bit more emotion and go a bit deeper.the right person would propell this to the same height of beauty as damien rice's song.my best to you in the contest.

Dear Maureen,
Although it's not my usual 'cup of tea' I agree that "The Blower's Daughter" is haunting and beautiful but I prefer the words you have written. I especially like the "I can't not..." touch and the consistently explicit message of your poem.
Applause for what I consider a winning poem and best wishes for good luck in the contest.
Love and hugs, XXX Hugh.
