Solamente

both feet planted
shoulder-width apart

fingers in place
trembling in anticipation

a bead of sweat
trickles down my cheek

one deep breath
sends the brilliant brass
to plant a memory
within every ear

twenty counts
and they're all mine

this is where i belong;
my only sanctuary

the only friend I've got left.

just as long as it doesn't disappoint me.
