Oh by the Exalted
Whom makes life, death
And from death, life
Punishing wrong from right.

People have called my
Standing for peace now
Irrelevant, foolhardy or politics
Because I am Muslim.
I am peace's ally
I only speak against
War and more aggression
Calling all peacemaker's friends.
We are all victims
Of injustice and persecution
Wherever hate rises up
And strikes out blindly.
We are all Londoners
The living and dead
We are voting volunteers
Slain by the KKK.
We are all inmates
Of Nazi concentration camps
We are Russian children
Held hostage by insurgents.
We are all Jerusalemers
Killing each other blindly.
We are all Americans
Inside the Twin Towers.
We are all Negroes
Lynched for being black
We are all Berliners
Tearing down that wall.
We are all minorities
Harassed, raped and cleansed
Without the benefit of
Landed riches to defend.
We are all Egyptians
Quietly having a coffee
Or rushing home praying
Explosion clouds blocking sunset.
We are all Armenians,
Whose millions died anonymously
We are illiterate nomads
UN doctors sterilized silently.
We are all students
Standing in Tienamen Square
We are all Baghdadians
Who voted for peace.
We are all majorities
Though seeming a minority
Who learn from Jesus
And from all Prophets.
We are all people
Who pray and believe
In peace and civilization
In integrity and honor.
We are all innocents
Who fight our anger
To act unlike those
Who claim our morality.
Yes, we are resolved
To not surrender God
To thugs with axes,
Bombs and hateful rhetoric.
This is the time
To affirm God's virtues
To ask for blessings
For living and dead.
God never deserts us
Though the raging noise
Of revenge and despair
Attacks our very souls.
We cannot ever forget
Man's intense cruelty, destruction
Or evil's pure insanity
Nor should we ignore.
Still, in this moment
We have a motivation
To overlook Prophetic advice
To forgive the unforgivable.
Yet Germans were rehabilitated
Israeli terrorists became statesmen
Black insurgents became presidents
White supremacists became peacemakers.
Peace is no movement
It is no philosophy
It is no ideology
Nor is it religion.
Peace is a goal
Of all civilized persons
It is the mark
All else is senseless.
We have good reason
To hate and deny
Or hold our pain
Until we are blind.
It is only God
Who says an answer
Is to trust Him
And His Scriptural solutions.
The lovers of evil
So misguided and lost
Do not think independently
Nor know true virtue.
How can haters pray
To a Supreme Being
Who protects all innocents
From this privatized violence.
How can haters say
There is one God
And not acknowledge that
We are one humanity.
How can haters live
A life of hypocrisy
Yet they claim authorship
In God's Exalted Name.
We cannot surrender God
To persons like these
Who think their acts
Will frighten courage away.
So in our comdemnation
We say these acts
Are ungodly and evil
And are a sin.

You have a nerve to post writes like this, when you are in the same sick category of the Muslim Extremists that attacked us on 9/11. Any religion that believes they will be rewarded in the afterlife by funding, and supporting terrorism, is a religion of the DEVIL HIMSELF! -
if everyone could understand and imbibe this message.....

A dignified and noble write. A write with a purpose!! So glad I came across it. Thanx for sharing.
Much peace, Sophie.

Your giving heart...
and your spirit of love...amazes me. Within this piece lies the words that could inspire many to learn to drop their own hate. I believe that EVERYBODY has a bias or a distaste of some sort for another race...not taking into consideration that misfortune knows no color...hate knows no color...disaster knows no color...we are all HUMANS...and we ALL deserve to be treated as such...I don't care what governmental structure we live under...or what country we live in.
Incredibly done my Orpheus..

I am printing this to put on my wall, to remind me every day why I get up every morning and strive for a better day, every day. To be able to find the power in my voice, to give what little I have financially instead of that extra Starbuck visit per day, to teach people about why peace is a tool we need to learn to use wisely. This is honestly a piece which has brought me to tears and I am not humoring you dear Man, for your words ring so clealy. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of this freedom's heart.

this was a fantastic write and so true...and very powerful...it raises many questions about who is at fault and the contest wanted controversial and this is it. Fabulous job!

So true, so very very true all of it. I agree with your last 4 lines of your poem. I have been condemned by a nonbeliever that WE God people are the reason for the war. He was a friend whom I never thought would lash out at me in such a way. I was in complete shock. I thought it was a very absurd way to look at the situation. I told him he of all people should be for this war than most due to the fact he lives so close to the twin towers. I thought at the time is was the NY way of thinking and that everyone there must feel that way, "the thing to do" so to speak. I realize I was wrong, you do not feel this anger and I am relieved to see that. Fantastic poem. I will come back and applaud you tomorrow, I am applauded out tonight. (smile)

You are indeed welcome. I wondered whether, well, you know and your response allays all my concerns notwithstanding. I bid you adieu.

Thank you for this really true and honest entry. Your words are wise ones my friend.

Peace poetry, peace songs and hopefully peace itself; there can never be enough in a world such as ours. Having written a few myself, I have searched myself for the seeds of peace and of course the other. Vengence and hate, greed and the need for justice seem such simple motivations. Peace on the other hand is more complex. It requires that we surrender our petty platitudes and sacrifice our conventional credos for devine principles. It requires that we do what is truly right rather than what is expediant and practical. Some day perhapse the day will come. Some day sooner, rather than later, there will be another evolution of minkind itself. For now, in hopes that one heart at a time awakens to a the new sunrise of clarity, I wish you...
Peace always,
