Deep down underground
There's a quality seldom found.
Down in that subterranean place.
Of light you will never find a trace.
Unless you use artificial means.
You will not be viewing any scenes.
So now I make my final remark.
In a coal mine it is very dark.
Author notes
I'm in a perverse mood tonight. I'm trying to obey all the rules to the letter.

Thanks for the comment. My father was a Bevan Boy (wartime miner) and I have been down both Iron-stone and Tin mines as well as some kersplunking.

Haha, this was awesome! When you said it was a dark poem, you were quite accurate about it! Hah, that rocks! I'm not sure if you know of someone who works in a mine but I think you've translated what they feel quite accurately. Very well done, keep on writing!

Thanks for the comment Kastor.
I'm glad you managed to read the words with the deliberatly awkward colour scheme.
I'm not a fan of dark poetry but I do love to play around with words as you may have noticed.

This interpretation of the rules did not win you the contest but it made me laugh.

Profound me! As someone once said I'm full of hidden shallows.
