Where's Santa?

Missing image
Where's Santa?

I don't know what happened to Santa this year
But I know for a fact he didn't come here

There's not even one package under my tree
Nothing from Santa for poor little me

And I know I've been good this whole year long
I can't imagine what he thinks I did wrong

I thought I heard him up on the roof top
I waited patiently but I guess he didn't stop

I baked him some cookies, poured a cold glass of ale
They're still sitting on the mantle, and getting stale

The tree is especially beautiful I thought
With glitter and baubles and an angel on top

Dear Santa wont see it 'cuz he never did show
Or maybe this year he's just kinda slow

I could of sworn from the roof I heard the clatter of deer
And jingle bells ringing and shouts of good cheer

I looked out the window, saw nothing but snow
But I'm sure I heard Santa and his 'HO HO HO'

I searched the darkness but no sleigh in sight
Might as well build a fire and wait through the night

Santa, dear Santa, I've lost faith in you
I thought for sure you'd be coming down my flue

This Christmas reminds me of the year when I was seven years old and I got a bundle of switches for Christmas .....everyone thought it was funny except my sis and me.....

    Excelllent Poem!!

This is hilarious I just love the image you have displayed on here. Yeah so if I'm wondering where Santa is I'll have to look up on the chimney and see if the reindeer is stuffing him down the chimney again LOL. LOL I love Christmas time. Being with friends/family is a blessing.

Very sweet rhyme pattern. Christmas in July was indeed a pleasure, courtesy of your poem. Thank you Dee! Hmmmmmm - I wonder if the picture (caricature) at the top was any indication why Santa never showed. I look forward to seeing him every year as well. Thank you for the fun little poem, Dee. Please keep up the great work.

    INSPIRED!!!

omigod! that is sooo funny! see? and i thought that i was the only person that fees like santa's gettin' a little slack with his duties. good to know that you feel the same. you've shown me something: that i can sit down and write a poem about ANYTHING. i used to be limited to just pain, anger, and love, but HEY! i can write a poem about any 'ole thing that i feel! thanks. i'm gonna just write about my random feeling because you've inspired me to. "hey! my my foot hurts! where's my pen and paper!"

Thanks for all your comments, love them all : )
Yusefeligirl.... sorry you couldn't view the picture.... it's what makes the poem humerous. It's a picture of the reindeer trying to stuff fat Santa down the chimney...santa is head down with his feet in the air and wont fit in the chimney...
I can see where the poem would seem sad without the picture. thanks for your comment and observation of the content....

Is it because I can't see the picture that I'm not getting this? I just find this poem so sad. Not funny at all. I read disappointment, dying dreams. I remember my mother-in-law telling me once that one christmas her parents filled her shoes with coal instead of giving her presents because they claimed she'd been a bad girl that year. Maybe I'm just having a bad day .....

    ho ho ho,

Down your flue santa came and then went.
Poor thing, he really looked rather spent.
The cookies he left you he's watching his weight
but then left you a package of love and good will
after he drank up all of your ale.
So keep the faith, be of good cheer. Santa has not forgot you sister dear. tee hee !!!
