A Teknogeek and a Digi-nerd,
A Cyberpunk couldn't pull a bird.
Tarred we are by you tabloid types,
Scarred by your tee-vee stereotypes.
Technospeak isn't gobbledygook,
Politely drunk ain't 'piss off' and puke.
Hyped we are by a billion bytes,
Not by her tits, or the smell of her tights.
For RAM and ROM, for the CPU
We suffer, anathema to you,
We feel, but you’re real creepy, y'know -
R2-D2 and C3-PO!
We drink a toast,
You brag and boast:-
Those wheels at home,
That mobile phone.
In the machine,
We are the ghost,
We make it seem,
Easy, for everyone. Almost.
An Anorak and an Analyst,
Or Fashion-plate and Forever-pissed?
A sensitive soul, soft and shy,
Or dick-brained ghoul, one helluva guy?
Of course, we all know
There's folks in-between
The mega-obsessed
And the macho obscene.
We know one out of ten
Trekkies are gay.
Leaving nine-oh percent for you,
By the way.
But have you ever met us?
Ever opened your mind?
Why can't you ever let us
Be? Too frightened, your kind?
Well, I hope you haven't even heard,
With the bias and bigotry there in your face,
Coz to this Teknogeek, this Digi-nerd,
You're less than a waste of hard disk space.

Guess I'm not worthy, but...
Love the contest. I chose your imagination.jpg artwork (www.freewebs.com/david_berry/imagination.jpg) for a very simple reason. Unlike your rendering, which is excellent, it is comparatively simple, but sooo bloody effective with its exquisite yet correctly powerful use of colour (blatant blacks and whites, hot hot hot orange and yellow). Also I guess being a senior design engineer for Imagination Technologies Plc (the PowerVR SoC company) here in good old Blighty had something to do with it!
Herewith a poem written one night when me and the guys were down the local Indian Curry house at around midnight after work, and I overheard these two idiots taking the piss...
