Stinky Finds True Love

There was a little dragon
with the meanest breath in town
every time he would speak
the smell would knock you down

Now everyone called him Stinky
but his name was really Fred
he didn't have to eat you
one whiff and you'd be dead

Stinky wanted a sweetheart
he liked a horse named Blue
one day he tried to kiss her
she kicked him with her shoe

Stinky was feeling so lonely
he left the town that day
on a search for true love
he was going far away

Stinky searched  the meadows
then he searched  the towns
every where Stinky would go
his breath made them frown

Stinky went to live alone
in his cave upon the hill
to live a quiet existence
a lonely life quiet and still

Something  smelled wonderful
as he arrived home that day
someone had lived in his cave
while he had been far away

As they looked at each other
one look took his breath away
she did not mind his bad breath
as she spoke to him that day

Stinky had met his true love
she was named Abby Rose
he fell in love with a skunk
by smelling through his nose

    WONDERFUL COMMENT

You are so funny. "As fragrant as her name" I do enjoy your comments. You have me smiling. You do have a sense of humor. I do too and I think having a sense of humor and being trustworthy are the two most important qualities anyone can have. Thank you again honorable one for you gracious comment. Take care, Sandy

Hi sis! This is so funny. I would have changed the last stanza just a little:

He had met his true love.
    Her name was Flora Belle.
She was a lovely lady skunk
It was love at first smell!

My mind is always thinking in rhyme. Good luck in the contest!

You had me giggling just from the title and I love the ending. Everyone should have someone to share their life with who accepts them as they are for all that they are. This was a real treat! Thank you for sharing it and good luck in your contest!

So goes the old adage-there is someone for everyone! I was afraid it wasn't Stinky's breath that was the offensive smell (thought that was a cloud beneath him...cough..cough)
Quite cute!!!!! Glad for the chance to read it~vj

    Cute read here.

I thought that this was delightful and you put it into perspective rather well and that is what shines about this one indeed. Very well done Sandy on the Stinky finding true love.

Hah! The title of this reminded me of some friends I’ve had in the not to far away past. Your poem itself its quite cute; I couldn't help but giggle all the way through it! ^___^

I liked: the humour in this. Yes, I laughed. Also, I thought the rhyming was effortless and natural. You tell a very entertaining story.

I disliked: the novelty. At the end of the day, this is good for a giggle or an amusement, but I don't think it is greater than that.
