The Forgotten Kingdom

Missing image
The Kingdom called the Forgotten Land
nestled deep in the mountains high above
ruled over by a handsome young prince
he wished to marry his true love

Their love was forbidden by the King
a beautiful young  maiden from a farm
the prince met her while riding one day
one look he was captured by her charm

Meeting secretly they found true love
their love would cause them much pain
she fell one day while walking home
the maiden lay dying in the rain

The prince grew old and never married
his heart broken his will to live gone
the Kingdom sits empty on the hillside
the creatures of the forest call it home

The castle is covered with vines of ivy
the gate to the court yard rusted tight
two unmarked headstones in the clearing
moonlight shines on the graves at night

The Prince and his true love are together
in death they live forever in Heaven above
this fairytale does have a happy ending
for they now live in eternity in love

    Mum,
This is adorable. Sad yet happy at the same time. I love how even though this is a fantasy poem you put God in there. He deserves to be everywhere.
    God bless

Oh Sandy...I like this fairy-take poem a lot. Yes...this does have a happy ending because we have a God who loves and cares for us and welcomes us home when our time on earth is done. What a wonderful message. Bravo! - joanne
