Unspoken Whispers

The thoughts aren't clear,
They're not even close.
It's as though they are miles away and surrounded by thick clouds.
These thoughts and words are swelling in a blur on my mind.
A candle attempts to inspire me, sparking brainwaves.
Words cannot be spoken without murdering the flame.
After that the thought subsides
And once again the mind is alone.
Contempt and uninspired.
The dying flame tortured evermore,
Ignored and betrayed.
Wax dripping on the white dresser.
Becoming cold and stiff like the air around me.
Stale with old thoughts and ideas.
Darkness flows through, replacing the glowing candlelight.
Words are left unwritten.

    Fortunately, I have not yet suffered from this "writers block," and until I do, I will continue to consider it as a myth. I will not argue the point, however, when I do experience it, feel free to do the whole "I told you so!" thing. Just because this phenomena doesn't exist, doesn't mean an effective poetry piece cannot be made from it. One of the most powerful lines in this piece is;

    "Words cannot be spoken without murdering the flame."

    You say words, flame goes out from the breath created, or, try to start writing, all other words vanish, until the flame can be relit.
