Let Go

Familiar scents of chlorine and cigarettes
No more likeable than licking your own sweat
Let it go

Lies slip easily from tongue to tongue
Switching and trading devises igniting fires
You think they won’t know?

Swear words exchanged and arms grabbed
Hands covering mouths, tripping on your safety-line
You fell down

Deeper and deeper you dug your hole
Trying to run to the other side of the world
It’s still dark there

I’m helpless before you, you hurting you
Stabbing yourself and hiding the wounds
I won’t hurt you

Kneeling down like a child calling a puppy
Broken heart, broken leg, hiding for safety
You can come to me

I’ll be your light, crutches you walk on
Punching bag for your aggressions to be let out on
Jesus more than me

Lord let help him Let Go.
