His heart full, his life seeming a shame,
he goes outside to hide in the rain,
it drenches his hair,
its tender embrace,
a reminder that he's still there,
amidst all his pain...
Ever coldly, it pulls him to a place,
where only he can erase,
but he holds it tight,
lets the rain wash his tears,
flooding with all that's right,
at the end of its chase...
The tears fall on down, mixing with the cold stream,
reminding him of his past dream,
as he notices with dread,
beyond his cold hands,
that his tears had turned red,
entering into the extreme...
His heart full, his life mixed with pain,
he comes back inside from the rain,
the warm, salty flow slowly abating,
his family looks and smiles,
and he wonders what they were saying,
while he was at peace, unhooking his chain...

Until the end, it seems like a morbid poem in a sense, but I definately like the ending. Also, the line "While he was at peace, unhooking his chain..." hits me to a personal level. I have finally been able to express, and sort out my thoughts, my pain, and this has set me free.
It's like the chain that holds us down, that makes us numb to feeling. I may be off base with this, but that's a great ending, for a great poem.
Keep it up.
