A piece of poetry is ....
A manifestation of the self in a form,
Unadulterated by realities and unrestricted by pretences.
It is the pouring of the heart into a garland of words,
Mirroring the innermost thoughts...
Echoing the deepest feelings...
A piece of poetry is ........
The depiction of the self in a form
Closest to the heart-
Painting the emotions of the soul..
In a language spelt by love.
It is a piece of heart of the poet....
Which has no decipherable beginning
And no tangible end yet...
Holds in it's confines a whole world of meaning
And a gamut of emotions.
A piece of poetry is ........
Like the unexpansable sky
Unfathomable in it's magnitude yet.....
Everyone has a part to call his own.

this was my favorite part ....A piece of poetry is ....
A manifestation of the self in a form,
Unadulterated by realities and unrestricted by pretences.
It is the pouring of the heart into a garland of words,
Mirroring the innermost thoughts...the beginning was aweosme...however I don't feel the ending was quite as powerful...that is just my opinion tohugh..keep writing, and inspiring ~Rush

Definitely superb
I feel this is the best definition that one can give to poetry. It encompasses all aspects. It has taken into account various features of poetry. I enjoyed various lines of the poem and the following are to cite a few.

this is masterfully done...flawlessly constructed, beautifully penned, and a joy to read... I never considered myself in this context but it's very true that a poem is a reflection of feelings of a particular moment... like a camera that captures and freezes the action and the picture can be chersihed years to come.... sometimes when I go back to my old poems and wonder; did I write this? thanx for sharing this beautiful poem... good luck in the contest....

Excellent poetics with use of meaningful words,clarity
of thoughts and superb flow! I liked the line ...In a language spelt by love.... which, to my opinion, indicates only the feeling part and not the type of poetry part.

I thought that this clearly explained just what poetry is. The ending was especially my favorite, how everyone has their own place within it. I feel that everyone has their own interpretation of poetry, as yours was described exquisitely. This was a very original topic and I give you props to that.
