Like Heroes Do

You see, what no one sees;
The beauty of life,
And the forest for the trees

You smile when everything
Is dead and broken

Like heroes do

You’re strong enough to lift cars
In the heat of the moment—
But gentle enough to touch a heart

I thought I could only find you
In an action, comic-book movie
But movies aren’t always true
‘Cause I found you next to me

You can put things back together,
When they fall apart—
Like my heart—so worn and weathered

You can tell me it’s alright
When my world comes tumbling down

Like heroes do

You freed me from the cage;
The iron bars of life;
We flew under your cape
As you held me tight

You can show me the city;
Slay my wicked demons,
And show them no pity

Above all others
You stand and you fly
Above all others,
You feel and you cry

Like heroes do
