Tap into a writer's mind,
unlock a poet's secret.
Why do they pen those verses?
Why write their heart's language?
But do not envy those writers,
for all can be as great.
No better offering for the human soul,
than words that come from emotions.
It is not from age or experience,
nor the great use of words.
It is digging deep inside you,
then a poet you shall be.
I am not the great and greater,
but praises I will accept.
Yet what makes a poet a poet,
find that out, listen to me.
Only one who writes the truth,
is the one I call a poet.
But the sun doesn't rise at dawn,
nor does it set at dying day.
Man does not live for mere years,
nor do they die in the future.
But he is pure and entirely immortal,
with his wings above the sky.
When you speak, speak your heart,
when you write, write your soul.
Share the dreams and fantasies you hide,
let us feel your passion and your love.
One who braves the fear of failure.
who dreams without limit or end.
He writes only his truth and knowledge,
not his mind, but his heart.
So what does make a poet?
You are all poet yourselves.
It does not need for you to pen verses,
but to know of every emotion.
unlock a poet's secret.

Like my friend, DeeCrepit, I have applaude you, young writer. You deserve every bit of praise that is proffered you. This is, as I said, and amazing piece from an old soul!
-
Amazing...Simply amazing...If I had more applaud I'd definatly applaud this.
-
I'm glad I came back to see where this had gone,
and dismayed my message may have been taken wrong.
Incredible it could seem so different from its intention.
I feel shot down for I do believe one of those applauses was from me, for without doubt it was surely meant to be.
Sigh. If it was considered derogatory,
I couldn't possibly be more sorry.
That is farthest from what I meant but the same old story that we read into things what we expect to see. I meant there was more that still would be found over time by this poet as it has been by poets since poetry began. He has begun beautifully and should not limit himself....
Certainly the praise in this case was highly merited. I look forward to see what his future brings. Might add: Few poets can inspire another to write a poem, let alone one that swiftly wrote itself. That magic is rare and proves the worth of the one who inspired it.

Mmmmm. I think many poets can see themselves in this piece. I find it humorous that the praise line triggered so much reaction.
Really, a poet writes to be read. Praise and criticism are why the poet write--to trigger a response from the reader.
Marvelous! -
In response to the above comments... Praise should be given where it is deserved, in the opinions of those who give it. I once knew a woman who was a teacher in a school in the centre of London. Each pupil had a different level of knowledge, regardless of what age they were. This woman would give praise to a child who got his first A in a test. But she would also give praise to a child who only got one answer correct, just for the fact that he'd got none correct in previous tests. So my point is, that it is more important to give praise to someone who has achieved more in one thing than he/she had before, than to give the same level of continous praise to someone who does brilliant at everything. takes a breath Phew! Hehe. Anyway, I think that your poem was deserving of all those applauses, and all those praising comments. Thank you for entering my contest.

alsome write i see what you are saying a poet is not someone who writes from the mind but from the heart love it keep writing i love it keep writing it's an alsome write -
I am adding you as a favorite. A writer I most admire sent me here to have a look. You are amazing. I msut keep track of you! You are going to go very far, young poet! Question not the place it comes from. Write it, let it wind and writhe and find its way to expression. So very well done!
-
a masterpiece!
WOW! Oh my gosh. This is amazing! I have never read something this good from someone who's just thirteen. I too, am thirteen, but you are like a hundred times better than I am. I'm glad Thoreau told me to read this poem. You are an amazing poet, and this poem has really spoke to me. Good job! Wow!

I have bookmarked it for reading without interruptions.
To tune it in, and seek its roots, follow its directions
and in so doing, find the truths that here are indicated.
It isn't mind alone that types. Alas it has no fingers.
Nor is it mere emotion, for alone its folly lingers.
This good advice ignores the need for Spirit's wisdom too,
for inspiration's wisdom flies so far beyond those two,
guided by a mystic force that some would call their Muse,
to choose the misbegotten route: which the rhymes to use,
when they are chosen for us before the thought is thought.
It comes like this to reminisce for we ourselves were caught,
and does not labour as it writes itself. Here you inspire
to discover another poet who once had played with fire.
There's nothing to be afraid of in writing here with form;
The form is just a set of wings, the better to perform.
And fully automatic. What you said is true, we know it.
It's when the rhythm's also there, you call yourself a poet.
Yon Ancient Crone,
Terry
A postscript for young poets:
Beware of too much hasty praise for it can stunt your growth.
Natural talent such as yours has a lifetime to find the way.

GREAT poem!!! i really loved reading this. i think the great part about writing is when you do it for yourself, when it comes from your heart it doesnt have to be great or perfect and yet it comes out that way just because the emotions were real. great piece as you already know. and you are 13?!?! man, i envy you...
Great write and God bless -
Very nice!!! I loved it! It's so true! It's written so very well! I enjoyed this! And you're only 13?? Wow! A poets true written feelings never cease to amaze me because of the simply fact that we all feel something alike but in a different way. Therefore it is expressed differently. You have done well in writing this! I love it! Great write! *claps*

*So what does make a poet?
You are all poet yourselves.
It does not need for you to pen verses,
but to know of every emotion*
These verses are so very true.
The thing is not all of us know how to write these emotions we feel on paper. Some of us just read someone elses. Very beautifully done. -
Definitely deserves an applaud!!! This is something very thought provoking and deep. Its just the truth which so many of us here oversee. He tells me you are only 13, and I find this write full of wisdom. A truly beautiful poem. Well done!

Great poem!
I am really impressed, but, because of your clear soul you can see something what some of us have lost on our way to grow up. Just be what you are. From the begining to the end, this verses comes from the middle of your heart, and that is the best you can do. My friend Thoreau47 said me to read this poem and I am very gretefull for his advice. Lately, it was one the best poem I saw. This poem is much more than poetry. Just keep writing this way...
I am going to put yur name in my favorites
-
Very brilliant you can feel your soul though out the poem
And every word rings true - to feel the emotions and pain of ones creativity you must become one with your self
And live inside the image...again brilliant -
The depth with which you write, utterly astounds me. One could only hope that others would believe as you and write from the heart and not focus so on structure and formalities. You are truly a poet at heart and your journey is only now beginning. I shall watch, as your future is surely very bright. Be well, Poet. Write on, and may your pen always be wet. Lily ~*

This poem is AMAZING! I am so glad Thoreau47 showed it to me, becuase it was a wonderful read. I can completely relate to this, and the line that struck me the most had to be:
"Only one who writes the truth,
is the one I call a poet."
I recently had a run in with someone who actually asked if I was lying in a poem I had written, so this was a line that fell close to my heart. You really are amazing Destiny. I shall be adding you to my favorites list. ^.^ Tehee. Wow, I still can't get over how deep this was...
Best of wishes to you!

Absolutly superb
You are an old soul in the body of a young boy. You have brought this old woman to tears young man and have given me serious food for though. Please please I beg you never stop writing for like a fine wine you will only get better with time. -
You are the essence of an old poet within the heart of a young man! This poem speaks of a truth that lives within the heart of poets. Wonderful job!
