Set to the sound of silence long,
In a world of paper and pixels;
Nothing ever changes the song,
Not even the thoughts of escape.
I sit now looking at me
And leafing through the thoughts
Jumbled inside a mind underused
In a body desired by none.
It's not hard to feel alone
When no one is around;
It's not hard to get lost
With books and routine.
It feels as though the world goes on
All around me but not with me.
Outside the windows looking in,
But inside there is nothing to see.

I can relate to this so much! They're right, it is well written and doesn't suck. We've all been in that depressing spot at one point or another, but I'm sure you'll find someone.

On the contrary, Erin, dear, this is a beautifully written poem. It's very sad to feel this way, I know. But there is someone out there for you, and your mind is brilliant. If you didn't work from daylight to dark, someone might get the chance to know you.
You're beautiful, you're intelligent, and you're incredibly talented. What's not to love? Now look in the mirror and say, "My sister, Patricia, loves me!"

Good Work
I agree with Goddess Isis, the poem is written well and it flows in its own way. You shouldn't down yourself when your talent for this is obvious. Cheer up, it is very good. -
I wish you weren't so hard on yourself, Erin! What you consider "bad" is an amazing write for anyone else! LOL! True, this is a much more negative and cynical write than most of your others, but it is also very honest. It is complete acceptance of certain aspects of life that cannot be changed! I also love the universality of the write. I mean, the words:
"It's not hard to feel alone
When no one is around;"
can be related to by anyone, and I mean absolutely anyone at all in the world! Great write, hun, and great insights on life, the universe, society, etc.
Don't be so hard on yourself! By the way, Mammy sends huggles, as do I.

feeling sucks, poem doesn't.
The poem doesn't suck, although I'm sure the feeling does. I know the "books and routine" routine. It's definitely a heartfelt write. Sobered me up after my last read (The Pirate Song). I think the first stanza is best against the rest, though they are all good.
