I Could

Some tell me I’m just a kid
And that I have so far to go
A whole lot of life to live—
Lots to learn and lots to know

I’m told I have everything—
Parents who love me,
And the ability to do anything;
Stay home or to party

I tell them they’re wrong;
They insist they’re right
No one could know my song—
To know it’s not alright

I wish I had the power sometimes,
To make someone laugh—
To even make him mine;
Even make a history, perhaps

I see his face in every fire’s flame
I hear his voice in my dreams—
And eagerly scream his name,
But I’m alone, and it’s only me

In those flames, I find peace;
I see his charming smile;
And happiness surrounds me—
Even if it’s only for a little while

I’d make those minutes last
Forever and ever, I would;
We’d dance and dance—have a blast
Now only if I could.
