These familiar roads.

These familiar roads are so wearisome.
The hills and the fields look the same,
Though decades dissolved in the heat of time,
and vaporized into a nebulous form.
How unchanging is this magnificent dome
that in slanting sunrays gleams!
Everything around me seems
Part and parcel of an eternal stream.
The wind must have chipped the rocks.
Many men must have passed these tracks.
Much younger must be the shepherds’ flocks.
Yet, everything seems stale and slack,
as if Nature and Life haven’t changed gear,
and Time has ceased to matter here.

Well done! Insightful and otherwise profound, This is a very good write. I like how your rhymes seem unstressed and when they simply dont fit you leave them out. Your form is very free, and I have a high appreciation for people who can do this sort of write well! I love the wearisome familiar road that is journeyd upon during this sort of story one might call it! very well done! This was quite enjoyable to read!

    well Said!!!

Life is certainly a wearisome road to travel when it is all too familiar either with all fun or with all painful. Either way a change is welcome and does good to the weary soul.

Life is a school where we are supposed to be learning our lessons. But if the lessons are the same we get bored, we need a change there too.

A very insightful, thought provoking poem.

Krishna, This is very insightful.... Change is important... that's why people go away for a break... decorate their houses with different colours and re-arrange their furnitures simply for the sake of change... hope I haven't gone out of track on these familiar roads...

Deeply profound and gracefully written. A pleasrure to read...life here is becoming dreadful, I am ready for His call. Very nicely done.

    thought-provoking

Well, not everyplace changes constantly, and sometimes that is a good thing....But your poem here made me stop and reflect upon myself. Right now, it seems as if my whole life has been a "wearisome road", it is not too much different today then it was 40 yrs. ago. But, as I say, maybe that's a good thing...

Thanks for making me think, poet, you did a wonderful job with this, it flowed beautifully.
