Twin Towers on the ground
Oh the sound of silence
Innocent cries, rage in eyes
Wonder whys in cowards disguise
Praise of a madman; despise
Spits in the face, foul taste
Does trace, my crying soul
Loss of man's control
Toll of cruel times hole
In the heart, of the world
Swirl of smoke filled skies
Why does innocence die, when
Terror sneaking in, demons
burning grin, takes our lives again
I kneel down and pray,
The ending of all days
With Hell they will pay, for
Attacks on Mother's land
Dying of the man
Extend your helping hand
Can, breaking hearts be heard
With, mere unspoken words
Waving proud and free
The fight for Liberty
Just like you and me,
Fall tears of misery
In sea to shining sea
Our blood is leaking now
Sob filled sighs in London Town
Stained on this common ground
Found, in the rubble
Lingering death lies troubled,
Lives and dreams, against
The missing's screams
Union Jack I cry for you,
I salute red, white, and blue
God bless England
*Amen*
Author notes
option 2 .....I love red, white, and blue. I am a naturalized citizen of both England and the United States. My heart dropped once again as the act of terrorism has struck. All I ask of anyone on the site is but one prayer, innocence lost is a rape against mankind.

-
This was a really powerful and well written poem about all the terrorism that has happened to our great nations
Keep writing and thanks for entering my contest, this was poignant and well written
All the best,
Pozo
-
I really liked to beginning of this poem. It's witty which is contrast with the sad subject of the poem. Best of Luck!
-
Now this is why, that comment from you was wonderful. This piece is phenomenal, it reads like a beat and yet, there is an emotion that is drawn from the very core of a person. Just fabulous!!
-
great poem...i really like the title.. well just thought i would comment cuz i really love it, m/b if u wana u could look at some of my poetry.. don't have to.
Rae -
Well obviously their God is different than yours! They follow a different religion, a different set a beliefs. It may be part of their religion, something that they believe is right, but perhaps not.
~:~Love~:~

Wow.
Incredible. What they said. -
I really liked this. This actually reminded me of an old beat poem that I wrote a few months back, but never finished.
I was pretty upset over the whole event, too. It is awful to see and hear of such cruel things.
Best of luck in the contest.

It is such a terrible tragedy that struck London Thursday morning. It made me cry too. I'm still sensitive about what happened on 9/11 as well because it affected me so much.
This is a very beautiful tribute to both countries and both incidents. It flowed so well. -
The title drew me in, and I am so glad that it did. This is a very well written write, one that is very touching and wonderfully put together! Bravo!!!
Bestest wishes & other mushy, gushy stuff
~Meli~
-
I was intrigued by your title and was blown away by this piece. Such a creative way of piecing it together. The Atlantic is a large span, but once again Britian and the USA are connected in a common cause. We will not suffer these acts against our people. God bless you, man!
-
Excellent
Sniffles, this was a really good poem! Poor London, dude. Stupid terrorists, how rude of them. They're stupid, they aren't fighting for God, what kind of god is that? It's called STUPIDITY! It's an incurable human disease. This was a very good write. -
I love this poem-it probably my fav. on allpoetry-
i know how you feel about england- my dad was killed in the attack-and it changed my life forever -
good
Excellent and comes at the right time.
Yet, Terrorists fully well know that they are an angry, fanatic, aimless, ruthless and always losing group. The world cannot be intimidated by any number of such scares.Time will contain the newer menace in a miraculous way. -
I agree with horus8, 9, and 10
-
I'm sorry, I couldn't finish it. There was another explosion....in my trousers.
-
Easilly the worst contrived pile of fodder I've read in awhile.
It might be good, if you knew how to form a sentence. -
sometimes it is hard to read a very long poem that has no stanza breaks. Especially a poem with such short lines.. I'm out of breath!
-
Absolutley Beautiful! What else can I say, this just shows so much what is happening in our world, BRILLIANT!
-
This was brilliant, Wow..I mean Wow, with all this stuff going on and then you writing this, it is Brilliant! So awesome. I love this and God forgive them people who do such nasty things. This must stop and they will pay. Great job!
-
WELL DONE
Now they have added London to their list. What can they possibly see in hurting innocent people. There are many other ways to get a message across. It is a sickening thought that these villians are getting away with such crimes.
We need to find a way to stop this carnage.
Hugs
Jan -
Terrorist are without honor.Their deeds of deception and murder are just that.Evil deeds! To sneek in to a home and kill only proves how lowly and dishonorable they are. They are not warriors in any sense of the word. And they are in for a huge rude awakening .No God could abide the mere thought of such evil ugliness.God forgive their evil souls,I can't!~~Suseann

wow this really spoke to me i LOVE IT SOOOO MUCH i want it i think im going to print it and add u
-
Wow so full of anger but has strength. I like it.
-
bravo
This is beautiful, your emotions are represented well. Such a tragic event should never have happened. Slainte. -
Powerful, Explosive Poem!
A wonderful tribute to your homeland, it was such a tragic event to have happened in a country like London, normally those things don't happen there so it seemed strange to know that terrorist will stop at nothing to cause death and destruction of innocent lives. They're pathetic and they're cowards. Your poem shows solidarity to your country and the words are powerful and inspiring. I wish England well and may her citizens stand together for the sake of humankind.

this is such a touching poem, great job. so much emotion well placed into these lines... fantaztic!
-
i hear you you! this is an amazingly well written poem that makes a strong stament. consider sending this to a newspaper or something.
-
Huzza! such a great poem full of emotion and on such a tender subject...greatly written and the rhyming was great! I was touched by this poem and God bless England...
-
This is just amazing! the way you put so much emotion into it and made me feel. It really brigs into light the terror attacks and the effect it had. the ryhme scheme was really good too almost every line rhymed and i think that made it all the more vivid and detailed. I look forward to more.
~Simple~ -
i like the way you have expressed yourself about war and that itis wrong for innocent people to be caught inbetween war and destruction causing deaths.
-
God do bless England and any country that is needing to deal with things such as people killing other people to make selfish statements. Tony.
-
Wonderfully written brava!!
Truly a heartfelt well orchestrated piece the insurrection of soul dwells in a void common in life yet, still the cries of freedom ring in the ears from our ancestors... peace, when will this sphere ever savor peace... over 2000 years and still our fields stain red, with the pawns of wars... brava... speak for the mute, the victims, the emotions
Wishin you and yours success in all of your endeavors
-
i see no reason at all for what has happened.. i do not understand why such things happen to innocent people.
this is a very heartfelt and touching piece. it's hard to imagine that people could be so cold hearted but, sometimes it just happens, i guess.
tanya -
I'm not sure where the title comes from? ~Nice sentiments but in truth the best way to deal with terrorism is to pretend it never happened, hard i know but it is only effective if you allow it to terrorize you as a group.
-
wow, this is an amazing poem. I love the flow and how you represent your feelings. Wonderfully written. I hope to read more by you soon!
-
WOW....this is just inspirational among so many other things, emotional, depressing, enlightening. I wish I had a talent like yours. I love the rhyming; it wasn't just basic it really...hit! You know what I mean I'm sure because you wrote it with that beat. Great write. We can all hope for a better tomorrow.
-
Very nice tribute... Normally I see through tributes and such, but this one... This one I don't. I hate terrorist acts but I also despise capitalizing on tragedy, it seems so, so...
.... Cheap.
People do capitalize on tragedy with a forced patriotism, or for a few weeks after, with sonnets and poems, some well intentioned, but to me it seems tacky.
I liked this poem, though. I may not agree with all these contests, but I TRULY like this poem.
Sincerely,
Chadrick -
that is awesome, i've never seen someone write like that
-
I had an agonising 3 hour wait until my best friends` text came through to tell me she was ok.....
An emotional write. -
brilliantly done - touching
this is a very touching poem. i was at work yesterday and we spoke of the philosophy behind this cycle. the terrorists attack us, we retaliate and attack them, which they see as just cause to attack us, and then we attach them again, and... the cycle continues. it is pointless and murderous and the world could just be nicer if the leaders of the world went into an intense gladiator fight over any stupid predicament. they have no fault in sending out their citizens to get killed but heaven forbid i am sent away from air conditioning and five star cuisine... sorry, i rant. back to your poem - amazing job. i love it. you are so talented. -
this is very touching poem. Just yesterday I was wondering why the hell people see it fit to cause damage to perosns who are quite innocent of anything. Just mormal people going on about their own business, devastated, lives ended for no reason, I think you should have stressed their pain a little more. But a Good write all the same
-
it is sad. yet i dont blame these extemest groups for retaliating it all comes back to the states.
-
great
-
It's indeed so sad that a particular group of people are that ignorant that they want everybody else to be like them, otherwise they don't deserve to live...
it's very weakhearted of those who put the bombs, like it is always when you try to pass through your thoughts with violence...
My thoughts are with all of the people who have been struck...
Leander -
Bye far my favorite poem that I have read today! Excelent!
-
WOWOW.. those r my favourite colors too.. and ur poem started as if apt for the incidents on screen yday
Good that u featured this..
-
Saw a few song quotes in there (the S&G one was quite evident). Not sure if that works on a whole...but the rest is quite good. I liked the comparison between London bridge and the Towers. That's one I hadn't thought about before.
Cheers,
Yossarian -
hmmm very patriotic at the end
it takes a bit to get into the rythm but once your there is flows realy nicely
vvgood -
Emotionally, you wrote a piece that in this time of peril many can connect to. I think in being afraid that they may label themselves a terrorist, you won't get many negative comments on this. Patriotic is the word for this poem. A nice tribute.
From a poetic stance, I feel that a few of the forced rhymes prevented you from getting across a deep feeling of regret, mourn, loss, hopelessness, etc... for what happened.
Overall: content, supurb. construction, shaky. -
Beautiful, emotional poem. Sad, terrible day for England.
-
Bush? Bush is a jackass.
Anyway I think the thing that made a greater impression on me was the fact that one day, London was celebrating that they would be holding the Olympics ( I really couldn't see what all the fuss was about)and the next, terrorist attacks all over. God the terrorists must have been proud of their timing!I think that england is getting more sympathies than america did though. Such a shame all those people were killed. And over absolutely nothing. -
this is so beautiful, i don't know what to say. your emotions are so evident you can feel your pain. this was extremely moving and i feel really horrible about all these attacks. some people are such aholes, killin innocents. i loved this. keep up the awe inspiring work and good luck in the contest.
best, jan
-
excellent
This poem is excellent and so touching even though i dont know exactly what happened in london today i know it was bad my prayers go out to those in london tonight and to you for this wonderful poem -
KICK ASS
two words: KICK ASS. -
These attacks came as a surprise. One thought that Mr. Bush had driven a nail in the coffin of the terrorists with his missions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Obviously, the terrorists are more powerful than U.S., the most powerful Nation in the world. In all such attacks, whether they take place in India, U.S., U.K. or elsewhere, innocent people become the targets. Any mission or objective, however genuine or laudatory it may otherwise be, ceases to be noble if it uses people's lives as ammunition.

Hi my friend, a good write, great feel, you wonder when it will stop, as you said the world has gone mad, It was a shock to see what happened in London, all the best, hugs Di
-
very very very nice, I like it.
-
Very preciously written, while hope still lingers at the very end. The rhythm is very smooth, delicately-used vocabulary, and overall a great poem penned here!! wonderful work^^
-
This poem is really good...I didn't even know about the attacks until I turned on the radio a few minutes ago...Ugh. It's so terrible...I love England. It's such a cool country. Have you ever been there? I'm going there next summer ^^ Anyways, awesome poem. It's really beautiful, and emotional. Good luck in the contest!!
<33 Kayla -
Beautiful, beautiful poem.
-
This is a very well written poem and it flows nicely. You obviously put a lot of emotion into it. Touching write.
-
First of all, let me say that I'm with you 100 percent. That being said, I believe that this work would be more clearly understood if you used proper punctuation. I'm afraid that all the emotion and the meaning that you put into this might get muddled because it's kind of hard to read. Other than that, you did a fantastic job. Reading this brought all the news footage from 9/11 to mind. I was immediately back in the classroom where my instructor got a phone call and then hurriedly turned on the television. Nightmares were brought to life before our very eyes. Please, keep up the great work. There was a lot of feeling behind this, and it really showed through. Well done. Wishing you the best in all you do,

It is wonderful to see so many pieces today in honour of England and her people, after the attack. While I am not a British subject/citizen, I have family and friends that are. Thank you for this!
-
This is a verrrrry good poem of the sick people there are in the world, cant they just kill them selfs and leave everyone else alone.there is plenty of other things that take our lifes with out some sick ass planting a bomb.
-
Blessings in prayers Amen.
My prayers are with the people of London Today
For today is a day unlike any other day
As their tears are heard unbelievable grief
For the carnage and devastation in the early morning rain.
Prayers are needed Amen Amen Amen tears fall from the heavens
Will there be a day for the dawning of eternal peace
Human beings caught in the underground with bombs
This is horrifying reality hopefully we will all stay unified strong
In the deadly nightshade of the deafening unsung songs
Thankfulness for sharing your prayers
People's hearts are weeping everywhere
In the wake of War where do you go?
When the chaos confusion strikes with no warning.
The unjust strike the London's bell tower once again.
-
Best of luck in the contest!
-

-
Brilliant poem and so true.
Please read my poem "Make A Starry Wish" and pray.
All my love
J xx -
This is an excellent poem. Definitely the best I have read in a while. It is devasting what happened in London today and on 09/11. So many innocent lives lost as a result of what happened. When will we stop fighting each other? Why is it always "us vs. them"? We are all in this world together and it's about time we starting living that way.
Anyway, great job on this.
Kat -
wow!
-
Yes, my dear friend, it is a very sad day indeed...
It's amazing how much blood must water the tree of liberty, and how many nations must pay the price before peace can make its weary way back...
I feel that it is almost impossible to express what one feels during this harrowing and horrible time, but this piece certainly stood tall and proud with an ending that makes salutes appear. Very well done...
-
That's truely touching...
-
excellent
Great write and thanks for entering. Good luck in the contest -
wow...this is awesome. pariotic poems usually arent my favorite, but this one is really good. IT rhymed and flowed amazingly well. it kinda seems ltk it good be a song, a good one too. ~ALyssa~
-
As a Londoner I am naturally shocked at the terrorist bombs. But we have been expecting this for some time; the surprise is perhaps that it has taken so long.
However, sadly, until the Western world changes its greedy ways and recognises the injustices being done to the 3rd World (and to the Palestinians in particular) things are not going to get any better. So we must expect more of the same until Blair and Bush are in the dustbin. -
Very good
A thoroughly patriotic poem. Lots of feeling in it. -
im gonna pour this on you, bc your comment reminded me of these forgotten feelings. so im sorry if you feel, umm, intimidated or harassed by this.
it seems that we americans are sooo self obsorbed. when the twins fell it was on the news for at least a day, all boohoo cause the fell down. dont get me wrong on this, i feel bad for those who suffered from the act of terrorism. But now, England is attacked, the place who( unless my history is really screwed up and probably is) has been supporting us for a while. and all i see, is one box on yahoo! telling me that there was an attack, and all the poems on here, but nothing, have i seen on tv, news. Nada. ok. ive said my piece. and after pouring that out on you (which im sorry for,
)i must say you're poem is pretty good, i couldn't tell is there was a rhyming sceme or not, and the rhythm was good, especially the first two lines. much luv.
-
I will definately continue to pray for all the lost and injured today, as well as the loved ones they left behind. What a horrible thing to have happened yet again. I have been trying to write something all day about this and just can't find the words to express how I feel. You did this well.
Bless you.

Interesting and very good.
-
Absolutly Stunning
I can never get my stuff to rhyme, so good for you to actually get everything to rhyme like it did! It's really sad because of what happened today in London and really that line 'Extend the helping hand' that we all really should try and reach out to other countries then our own when in times of need. You did an AMAZING job on this poem! Full of raw emotion that it just floored me. Awesome! -
Great poem, Muddy. You've written some really awesome lines here! Now I feel all patriotic!
-
Another sad day marked by the acts of terrorism. This write captured those emotions that are running rampant right now.~vj
