Arsenic- ( Michael)

Missing image
He sits  reading on the deck in Iraq
quietly sipping his morning brew
taking in God's wondrous sunshine
underneath the sky of heavenly blue

He serves with honor in the Air Force
his loved ones are so  very far away
a Christian is this dear Airman
each night he will faithfully pray

He holds his friends so near his heart
laughs with them and cries too
compassion fills his friendships
his kindness comes shining through

Putting his life on the line for freedom
sacrificing everything he holds dear
watching the red skies in the distance
waiting for the insurgents to appear

If he is lucky it will be a quiet night
he may read a book or write a poem
he will look at a picture of his family
causing his thoughts to turn to home

Two months since he said goodbye
he longs to be home once more
he dreams of the day he leaves Iraq
and returns to the life he had before

But for now he serves his country
with honor and so much pride
he will do his duty with such valor
for love of his country he will abide

Thank you for being a dear friend
I am glad to bring sunshine your way
I will always be here to lend a ear
peace be with you this blessed day

Ah thank you for the wonderful comment. i do appreciate it comming from you, a wonderful poet. This was such a joy to write for a wonderful Christian who serves his country with such honor and even in his stressful busy day, takes time to reach out to his friends. I feel blessed he call me his friend. He had written one for me called Friends and Dragons, so I wrote this one a few weeks ago called Dragons and Friends. You may enjoy it. It is always a pleasure to hear from you. He speaks highly of you and your husband many times. God Bless you, Sandy

I am certain that this will bless your dear friend. I think it is honorable for anyone to stand up to protect their Country. Even though I do not agree with fighting it has become a necessary evil in this sin torn world. You have paid honour to your friend and I am sure he will appreciate this lovely poem.

This poem really made me think again about all of the men and women that are away in Iraq fighting for America. Very patriotic and sentimental. Good job.

This is awesome, very very very very well written short but understandable, with a very cleart message behind the words and various phrases you've used. Excellently worded, you should definately keep writing in this style, it is very precise and beautifuly put. Have you written many poems? This is an excellent example of your literary skills keep up the great work and write more poetry in this style as I would love to read it. Your poetry is very touching and heartfelt I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger than reason. I am so thirsty for the awesome that only the awesome has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn't impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape one way or another. No more walls...Excellent short, sharp poem. The background artwork adds to the poem - I like it. Great work here. Good luck !! This was an amazing write, the imagery you placed and the truth behind it is simply astonishing. It must be hard to be away from your loved ones serving your country. The thoughtfullness you placed within your words for writting for a dear friend. They always seem to touch every one that reads them and come out the best when they have so much meaning to the poet. Thanks for sharing this and I hope to read more from you soon. Keep writing, -

This is an awesome poem. I really like how its all patriotic and hopeful and religious all at the same time. I can somewhat relate to this also because my brother was over in Iraq fighting for our freedom. I hope this person comes back safely.

While personally I may not agree with all the sentiments in this piece I do think it is a beautiful piece about Michael and how much he means to you as a person and how good as a man he is.

    Nice

Good luck, and may he be safe in this horrible and cruel waste of humanity. I pray that we see them home safe, and a quick end to this stupid quest for money and power.
