What do we dream upon the sand?
Scenes no one will understand
Little pieces of our minds
That when awake we cannot find
Or have no desire to understand
When we wake upon on the sand.
What do we dream when once asleep
Where there’s no grass, and in such heat?
Little fragments of a scream
On the edges of our dream-
It's just such things they’ll never hear.
They'll never understand our fear!
What dreams adorn this sandy shore?
Strange is how we view them so-
Little bits of future glass
While in the surf we float on past;
How our minds are tickled so-
Sad, none of it is real, though.
What do we dream? What, in our heads,
Play out upon this grainy bed?
Lovely things we never said
Feelings deep in our hearts and heads
Secrets we will never tell
Winning love or casting spells
Things they’d never understand
Until they sleep upon the sand!
