My friend, these words of mine take heed
before you decide on what to bother;
Act not in haste, let the truth take seed,
to hear is one thing, to know is another.
There are many in life who tell cruel jokes
or half-truths, or tales of a slanted view,
Use your judgement, don't fall for a hoax.
If he lied about another, he will lie about you.
Listen to both, BEFORE choosing one
Be placid, let not wrath's flaming ember
move you in haste to what can't be undone
so before you regret, remember
Don't judge too quickly the stories they tell
if they move you act against the other.
They might be putting you under a fool's spell.
To hear is one thing, to know, is another.

Oh, marvolously written! the words and phrase are so well strung through the poem's meaning! Artful ballad, Tahutiotep! I do agree with masterblaster, mater is slightly off, only slightly, but i dont feel it subtracts from the poems core. Nicely done! thank you much for entering!

Hi, the poem is great, meter and flow out a bit, but would not take much to put right, for example you have chosen 10, 8. but wander a bit here and there, take out 2nd is , in last line 1st verse, then work down rest of poem, keeping to 10, 8, if you read aloud you will see what I mean, it will then be a great poem, seems someone has hurt you sorry my friend I know the feeling, May Maat be with you, hugs Di

This is a very true piece you have here. So often, people hear something, think it's true, and find out the hard way, they were lied to. Good luck in the contest.
