I stand before this glorious morn
As the sunrise harkens the day
Shining its promising light on me
“It’s your day”, it seems to say
My mind still fogged with sleep hazed thoughts
Last night’s dreams forgotten now
I dare to question the new day’s promise
Yet know I’ll make it happen somehow
For laid before me, the fare of the day
Everything from bread to gold
My plans, my hopes, opportunities
Don’t let them pass me by, take hold
For each of us, with each new morn
Begins a life renewed some way
Another chance to get it right
Take charge and seize the day

You made me think!
We were asked to choose one poem to remember by heart in an english lesson. The poem should relate to "Dead Poets Society" and I chose yours.
It really makes me wonder and realize how amazing life is!
Thank you so much. -

Thank you for your kind comment. I'm flattered that you have chosen my poem to memorize for your class
Yes, life is amazing in all it's aspects. I like when a poem makes a person think. I had to choose and memorize a poem for class when I was in the 4th grade. My choice was 'Trees'. and the next assignment was to write a poem of our own inspired by the poem we had memorized. I've loved writing (and reading) poetry ever since.

I like this...
Darling
Sometimes I awaken dark
fearfully I arise bare
feeling alone and stark
before the sunrise shares.
Yes, you convinced me
changing my entire perspective
that sunlight we see
makes hope, well, elective.

Wow Grams, your poem expresses the beauty of what a new day realy is, another chance to seize the day or enjoy the stillness of a slogs life. I think you know what I mean.
I do find myself thinking exactly what your words in the authors comment box lately. Many nights are hard for me to sleep, end up staying awake all night and by the time the sun breaks the night sky I have already started a new day.
Any hoo, your poem is a bit inspirational I have to admit.
Nice to see you have new work posted.

You really don't know what this poem means to me. I am in transition and need to see as you do, that each day is new and a chance to begin again. I need that right now, and yes, I'm going to keep those words in my head. Thanks!

positively positive
what a sweet and positive poem! I need to be reminded of carpe diem, seize the day, for it slips my mind and I let the day pass me by all too often. Thanks, catz! -
Yes!
Life's too short!
Take a coffee out onto the porch and watch the birds wake up. Savour the moment.

Great write
Keep writing, I love the positivity here
Thanks for your comment
The only thing is that she's got sickness and runny poos (I don't know how to spell the complicated word, if 'poo' doesn't mean what it does in England in America than I'll spell it wrong for you
) and my last cat died when I thought he'd pull through. So I'm not sure what to expect, and I'm kind of worried because her papers have just come through and she's only a kitten and I thought she'd die a lot older
All the best,

I enjoyed this positive little poem very much. It was so resolved and easy. Sometimes it's the small gifts in life that turn out to be the biggest gifts of all. Certainly your positive attitude and faith in the new day ahead are inspirational. Peace and joy

Dear Dee,
Fogged mind or not, you managed to write some very fine verses here, emphasising the fact that each new day gives a chance to correct yesterday's mistakes and to move on to new opportunities. Applause.
Love and hugs, XXX Hugh. -
I sure know what you mean, Jenn.... I walk around in circles, too, until I manage to get the coffee made and down a couple of cups.
Thanks so much for reading and your kind comment
You always make me feel like my poems aren't so bad after all.
