Father Tyme

I met him in a dream once, or twice, or was it thrice?
He demanded "Come with me, there is something you have to see"
I remarked "what do I need to see, I know everything"
"Foolish child, you know nothing! You need to learn from your mistakes"

So down, down, down a well I followed where he led
Passing the ages of romance, medieval times, and the dark ages
Until we came to a moment I didn't recognize in my past

"I never did this, it never happened", I remarked
This is symbolic of your past...just watch
I watched as I climbed the stairs and stepped to the edge
As I watched in terror, I jumped!

I tried to call out...scream for my self to stay back
but I wouldn't listen, couldn't get through to myself
" Stop, you're making a mistake, NOOOOO"

But I was too late.
I had jumped into a mistake without looking.
What did I learn?

You can't change the past
Look before you leap
Listen to those voices inside your head
Never cross Father Tyme

    Thanks

Sorry to hear this is happening to you. The point is that we can't change the past but we can change the future and the way we look at the past, present, and future.

The message is an old one but you've incorporated it into a poem in a new way. However I was lost throughout the end of the poem as to the point of the poem. I didn't find the focus very clear.
