the bitterness burns my throat
and tears my chest apart
my vision blurs
and those around me morph
a hell of my own making
I am drunk
on my absinthe tears
la fée verte
elle habite dans ma gorge
le feu qui dechire
quand je respire
je déteste
mes larmes d'absinthe

la fée verte
elle habite dans ma gorge
le feu qui dechire
quand je respire
je déteste mes larmes d'absinthe
The green fairy
she resides in my throat
the fire that rips
each time i breathe
i hate
my absinthe tears
tears and the hallucination-inducing alcohol called absinthe

This is a very powerful and interesting poem...I bet you were missing your Steve and just decided to let it all go...!! I so enjoyed reading this and the french poem was just amazing (thank you for the English translation - I can read Dutch and a little German, but unfortunately not French!). You've captured a combination of hallucination and longing in so few words!! Well done!

ah cool! i didn't know you spoke french. I didn't write this specifically for the contest. it was something i had lying around and i thought it fit into the contest category so i posted it. And since absinthe is also widely known as le fee verte i thought i'd write something in french.

Outstanding!!
Another hit! This is an awesome poem. Is that french? I wish I could speak french so I could say those lines out loud. I love french, well to listen to it anyways. That is incredible. I love the line:
"a hell of my own making"
I have made a hell or two myself. Wonderful wording. Keep it up!

I like this poem. It's kind of mysterious. But I was checking out your main page and I agree with you on the Goth stereotype for the most part. Alot of people ask if I am a goth but I just say "that depends on what you think a goth is," but anyway, cool poem!

Did you know I spoke french or was it just a coincidence some of the poem is in the language. I love this poem, like your other one it is really cleverly written.
Thank You For Entering
