Tomorrow Comes

When the morning comes, the sun will rise
and the moon will dip below.
When the morning comes, I will be gone
but you won't see me go.

When the noontime comes, the sun will set
a place up in the sky.
When the noontime comes, I shall be gone
but please for me don't cry.

When the evening comes, the sun will fall
and the moon will shine again.
When the evening comes, I may be gone
but think of me, my friend.

When tomorrow comes, the light will shine
upon the world anew.
When tomorrow comes, I'll still be gone
but my memory lives on... in you.

Author notes

Just... a short song I sang on my cellphone's voicemail greeting a while back... I copied it down while I had the chance and put it up here finally...  It's kinda sad, but I can sing it though ^^;  -Dan

This is beautiful and rather poignant, time goes relentlessly by but some people will neve be forgotten.Nice choice of words, very clear and to the point.

One could take this on two views: one, that the narrator is dying, and that this is a last testament and two, that they are merely leaving the person. If the latter, than sympathy for the narrator is lessened. He/she'd be very selfish leaving...and demanding the person he/she is leaving to remember him/her (assuming it's not, like, a vaction or something...which, to me, would seem rather unpoetic...not exactly "Valediction Forbidding Mourning", lol). Now, if it is in fact the former, then it feels like its mising something...just a few spare details that would make all the difference. All that being said, I did rather like it, despite myself.

    Cheers,

    Yossarian

Truely beautiful, and not necessarily about death I feel. It could be about someone who is leaving to a new life somewhere new. It was really nice, and heartfelt.

That is sooo sad, and beautifully written. The flow is so prefect. The poem reminded me of all the people I have lost. And you're right a part of them will forever be with me, though it's obviously not the same. Very somber, haunting poem, I loved it. Keep it up!!

I like this poem, It makes me think of a friend who died not long ago. And makes me remember them more, and fondly so. Very nicely written.

This was rather touching. Hit pretty close to home actually. Was lovely but, like nata said, too bad you can't hear songs on here. Any way, keep up the good work.

great song! very touching. too bad you can't actually HEAR songs on here. in the second stanza (sorry, verse), the first line was kind of confusing until you read the second, because it seemed like you were saying the sun was setting at noon. it might be easier to understand if you put 'set' in the third verse and changed the second to something else.. anyway, i really liked it.
