Do Dreams?

All alone, here in the night

Trapped inside my thoughts

Holding back the thoughts of loss

The fears of despair, and pain

Like a sad soundtrack of hope

Your voice echoes through my head

I close my eyes, hiding from nothing

To see you there, the face I adore

Teasing me in unreachable sleep

So curled up with your absence to blanket me

I shiver at the remembered touch of you

Hoping no one can hear, let alone see

Tears that escape, sneaking past my lids

Closed against the cruel room

Un-graced by you, with all that you are

Distractions that fail, diverting thoughts

Only for brief moments

Crashing away to waking dreams of you

Bringing smiles and sighs

Because you are there

I am here

And I still don’t know

Do dreams still ever come true?

Beautiful thought-provoking write, emphasising the powerful longing of our dreams. 'Crashing away to waking dreams of you' was the line that really grabbed out and yanked me into your thoughts.

I think dreams do come true, but sometimes so much time passes we forget about what we want, and when we finally have it we never realise what was once important to us.

Anyway, that's just my theory. Sorry for the rambling, this is an excellent write. Kate
