First Thoughts

There’s a red oak & a pecan tree

In the front yard

With a grey striped cat

Called Benji

The sound of the railroad

Banging ears

When one least expects it

The sound of the highway long in the distance

And here I am Stuck in East Texas

Dogs barking at everything

That they are not used to

And I’m longing for simple peace

In the mountains

I thought I would enjoy this

But I’m not

I’m finding that certain things irritate me

Why?

Because they aren’t as they seemed.

Who likes being lied to?

Yes…

I knew that I would be working but I had forgotten

Dealing with certain individuals would be a pain.

Damn…

I want to go back to Colorado

And never come back to this again.

I should have stayed

And let others deal with whatever.
