'Til the End of Forever

He knocked gently on my front door
I saw a smile on his face
As he stood proudly on my front porch
Kind of like an Angel sent from Grace

A dozen red roses in his hand
And this I knew:
He was mine to command

I let him into my house; a home
His lips softly touched mine
I closed the door to the world; alone
And tasted him for the thousandth time

There he stood, in a tuxedo
And this I saw:
His radiant, charming glow

This night was different than the last
Something peculiar, somewhat strange
He was nervous because of the laughs
And the glances we exchanged

My heart began to race and pound
And this I knew:
On one knee, he was going down

His face was pale as he said,
“I want us to be together,”
He rambled and he pled,
“From now until the end of forever.”

He was trying his best
And this I saw:
To get me to say ‘yes’

I watched as he took out a box
It was as if time unwrapped slowly
When our eyes met in a lock
And I muttered a quiet “Holy—”

A tear fell from my eye
And this I knew:
He was my angel from the sky
