Just as those who are slowest to praise
are often the quickest to brag and boast,
those who give others the least respect
are often the ones who demand it the most.
And their lives will be mired in conflict
until they discover the right way to live
and the truth that surpasses all the rest . . .
We reap what we sow. We get what we give.

Wow- if I get to read more stuff like this, you might really become one of my favorites! LOL
-
Wow, three times! Thanks! I'm assuming that triple post was a mistake, but thanks for the three applause' anyway.
I'm glad this one hit home with you.

You are just a wealth of knowledge arent you? This is one of the most basic lessons that each person must learn and I love the way you wrote about it in the first stanza (section) and then reinforced it in the second. Very affective.

This is a great poem and it is very true. IT is a very beautiful poem. Keep writing and I'll keep reading.

Another great poem and I have to agree that while it has some truth sometimes the wheels do turn very slowly although those harvests can be the best ones to reap.

Your last line sums it up so very well. Your words are lyrical and ring true in my ears. Oft times the ones who demand respect are disrespectful in their demands. This is a wonderful musing, philosphical in nature and spiritually moving. GREAT WORK! Thank you so much for the time spent to enter this challenge. Experience and skill out weighs luck so, I don't need to send that message to you. You know that you have written well on the subject. Again, Thank YOU!
Much Love,
Renee

Amen! This says it all as well. Great minds think alike..lol
Best wishes in the contest.

Bravo! Smile and the world smiles with you. We reep what we sow sure says it all. There is just something about being around a happy person that is contagious. The type of person who unselfishly and silently brings others out of despair without boasting or expecting things in return. The circle continues....

This reads like one of the clever true-isms me old granddad would impart, between sips of lager. A lesson that some find hard-learned. Wonderful rhythm and superb message.
Nicely done

Hi Suzy,
I guess some people are just so miserable inside, they can't help spreading it around. Misery doesn't just love company, it demands it. lol
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks, Milly! Will do.

Intriguingly, if one were to try and bypass all distractives of where a muse might go and include only the essence of this truth's deepest value, "you have mastered just such essence!" But would you really want to be a Zen master?
I love your style, and have included you on my favourites. Strangely enough, there's a similar style of pattern to our interest; I do hope you have a look at mine...
It was a real pleasure having an overall view at yours!

Hi Mark...as usual you have struck a chord with your profound words; I so try to live my life this way as much as possible and it saddens me when I see others treating each other badly and sometimes being so clueless as to how their actions affect those around them. It seems to always just get down to the basic rule I learned in kindergarten, "do unto others as you would have others do unto you." Bravo on this little gem...

so much wisdom in a few lines.you will be respected for you command it with your nature.it shows in these few lines.you give what you get.more wiser words could not have been spoken.
-
This is so very true. It also reminds me of a favorite quote... "Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love." - Tao Te Ching. Words are wisdom are only wasted on the ears on those who refuse to hear. I hear what you are saying here. Thanks for the loving reminder. We all need it now and again.

Excellent
To know this is to be middle aged. You actually live to see it happen! What goes around, comes around. The older I get the more truth there is to this. I am not a crazy, but it seems to me those who live one of the 7 deadly sins end up suffering some ironic fate! -
You are much more concise than usual Mark, but once you have said this, there really is no more.
I agree, I have seen it work just that way.
-
Boy you wrapped that up in a tight little nutshell. I have to agree with you 100% on this one. And you are right we get what we give. It may not be obvious or immediate, but in the end it all is balanced out.
Well written.

I like this Mark.. it packs a punch in Truth.. Catressa

mark,
This is great. You are so right on this on. I really think i am a good person and I try to be good to everyone that crosses my path. Cause if you give respect, you normally get it back. Thats what i tell my son. That if he will respect me, I will respect him...and it seems to be working.
Thanks for sharing this..and much luck to you in the contest.

Thanks, Ankeeta.
Fortunately, my foes are few. I'm very peace-loving in general but when someone speaks disrespectfully to me, I have no problem slapping them around. Actually, I figure I'm doing them a favor by dispensing a little karma. (My friends sometimes call me the "karma police". I have never tolerated idiots very well.)
Maybe someday I'll be a zen master . . . when the world runs out of people who desperately need a smack up the pie hole. lol

the fact
wow
so very true about the climax especially!...I could connect the first few lines with your foes
...but its rightly said the jealous souls cant appreciate rather boast about nothing which they have with them!
"You will always get just what you give".------->defines Karma here in someway
