He'll Never Know

He looks at me
Eyes sparkle-shine bright
And my heart breaks
Just a little more.
I love him, need him
Like a flower in the sunlight
That shines on us now.
With a dive, a small splash
He disappears
He pops up
He smiles at me.
I sigh as I crack-break inside.
His voice is soft
But hurts my ears
His hand on mine makes me cry.
If I didn’t miss him so
I’d just leave already
But not seeing him hurts
Just as much as his presence.
I run from the pool to sob
As he treads water happily.

Author notes

it's depressing to be in love, especially if it's not with your boyfriend
