She wept silent tears,
Her agony was met there from all her years.
Hearts break as they see the fear in her eyes,
She held on tight shoulders heavy with sighs.
The man in green held her trying to be strong,
Together their hearts held a tragic song.
I watched the soldiers heart break,
I saw her cling in desperate take.
I heard the song that my heart would sing,
In irony now to a soldier I cling.
Here I am standing, watching, waiting in desperation,
Fearing, praying for some type of rotation.
We wave out flags and send our men,
To who knows what end.
God hold them spare them,
It strikes pain in my heart and fills it to the brim.
She never let him go in my sight,
He held her so tight.
Where is the soldier today,
Did he hold the silent enemy at bay.
The man in green stood torn,
For the men in green we mourn.
For the Soldiers we lift our hands,
For the Soldiers in distant lands.
We are endebted to the men in green,
For all their deeds left unseen.

way good... first of all i like how you didnt leave it plain and simple just by saying, our troops or soilders. "the men in green" was original. but then the heart you put behind the words... it just stepped out and said everything. and it was beautiful. thnx for an awesome read. and thnx for reading my poem and commenting on it. i agree with you. God bless. <3 joy.

This is really good. God bless the men and woman of the armed forces. The torment of having to leave someone you love for a cause like war is heart wrenching. That said, its awe-inspiring the strength families and the soldiers have. Very well written and the praise was touching.

This is a wonderful tribute to the wonderful people that serve our nation. The flow was excellent, everything just fit perfectly where it needed to go. Wonderful work, it was a pleasure reading this poem.
Love,
