Like the waving of a wand,
I thought, somehow,
they would change it all,
those two small words.
As if by magic,
that settled sense of family
would weave its silken strands into our lives
and all at once
that sense of sudden joy
when you walk by
or smile at me
or hold my hand in yours
would find itself replaced
by something
other.
Pleasant, in its own way,
but calmer,
smoother.
But life, it seems, has other plans.
So when I see you,
hear your voice,
or feel your skin on mine
it's still as
fresh
exciting
wonderful
as it ever was.
Perhaps they aren't magic words at all.
Still, they're true,
those little words
"I do."

Very gentle and subtle with your words. The background works really well here. The end was my favorite...it ties the rest up very well. Very romantic and enchanting.

For me, the two magic words have always been "I've come". But then I'm a romantic at heart...................................................................

Well written - though my wife would be more into it, just the words alone are very sentimental. Well written!

Thoughts shapes the journey...
A heartfull venture of purely personnel joy making this poem a great journey of the emotional world. The thoughts which are very sweet and melodious have been singing a song of the sacared relationship based on true love between two hearts. The flow of the write belongs to the magical presentation communicating thoughts just truely ..I really appreciate this write.prabhudayal khattar -
Don't you believe it, Jo. They ARE magic...you just expected a different result.
The magic settles on the both of you like fairy dust, and like fairy dust, the sparkle is only visible at odd moments...when it can take you by surprise, and put tears in your eyes, and make your heart both swell with tenderness and at the same time growl fiercely "MINE!"
Trust me on this...it's nearly five years, and that sparkle still shows up for me at the damndest moments!
By the way...my congratulations again. You made a beautiful bride, and I wish you all the happiness you can give each other! -
exquisite
This piece is so very beautiful that it hit me in the heart and made me think my dreams weren't as much fantasy as I believed they were. It's a very powerful piece, suspended in magic and filling up the spaces we all have inside. The wording keeps the reader in suspense until the very last line, when it packs it's punch and changes everything, right where it matters. Needless to say I loved it!
