I am as mighty
As the roaring sea
With its waves
Rustling at my feet
And its salty winds
Licking at my face
Today
I am as subtle
As the moon in the sky
With its stars
Twinkling in my eyes
While I look up
To make my wish
I shall leave
Footprints
In beach sand
And streaks
Across skies
Today
I am as blissful
As a careless child
Running in the grass
With a charming smile
And a bubbly laugh
That fills the voids
Today
I am as silent
As a triumphant night
Dark as a shadow
But gleaming with light
And I see it all
When I slowly start to sink
I shall go
Where none
Will find me
A place
Beyond words
Today
I am as quick
As a rabbit out its nest
With a dog at its tail
And dead as the pest
Buzzing around your ear
On those hot summer days
Today
I am as tomorrow
As life is to me
And hours to a man—
Gone so quickly
Slipping between cracks
Like a snake
I hear you
Screaming
There’s not much
You say
You want more
Of me
Today I am here
Yesterday is my shadow
And tomorrow…
Never
