Cattitude

This is my goodbye to Tom Too, a kitten that has just left me.
I had hoped to be able to keep him and his brothers and sister. But as we have no home of our own yet, (still searching) it's impossible. He has been adopted as are his siblings.
I love them all but Tom Too is special to me, I helped deliver him as he was breech birth, he was the runt of the litter so I hand fed him. He's my baby.

This poem is for Tom Too, the Cat with Cattitude.

Cattitude

A tiny scrap of gold,
Smaller than my palm.
Born feet first,
Just like a man.
Awkward from the first.

This scrap of gold,
Smaller than all the rest.
Fights harder than his kin,
Hangs on to life,
Determined not to be beat.

Striped gold and cream,
First steps he takes.
Before his sister and brothers,
Eyes wide open in curious gaze,
Searching to find trouble.

Gold, cream and orange eagerly finds,
Food for voracious belly.
There's no escaping,
This determined cat,
Smell of cheese in tiny nose.

Gold, cream, orange, and white,
Held down 'neath pitbull paw.
Is not impressed by slurping tongue,
So bites said paw and swats said tongue,
And makes the pitbull cower.

This tiny scrap,
My beautiful cat.
Tom Too is his name,
Named for another similar cat,
Both cats have Cattitude.

A Happy Ending to Tom Too’s story. His new owners didn’t appreciate the fact that a kitten likes to play and scratch and steal food from their plates. He is now back home with me, he came home to me just a two months after he left.  He and his brother Barney are now one year old and the most beautiful long haired cats I’ve ever seen. Tom Too, also known as Ginger has a smile, a goofy smile, because he has an overbite he looks like a goofie newfie.

By the way, we do have a home now.

Thank you. We have three cats, TomKat who is 21 and still hunts, TomToo aka Goofie Newfie Ginger because he has an overbite that makes him smile. His Brother Barney also came back to me because his owner wasn't prepared for his antics either. I always wonder why people get kittens when they really want older cats who are already trained not to climb curtains (are they ever that trained?)
They were only a few weeks old, what did the new owners expect.

Oh well, they're mine all mine now.

    Fantastic

I loved this I really did, I have cats myself 4 of them lol.

This is very well done and I'm so glad about the ending of it and the feeling it gave me was sadness to begin with but I felt total joy towards the end.

Thank you so much for entering this in to the contest and good luck.
