Poet

Opening of the mind
Like a flower in the spring
The joy of the tender petals
Reaching for the light, the rain
Life giving words, thoughts
Like the rain and light
The new flower needs to survive
Bring me warmth, strength
Happiness
The light, my comfort
The rain, my emotions
Spilling out on paper
Like the dew on the leaves
Flowers grow
Words thrive
All in the presence
Of caring, thoughtful eyes

Author notes

Used to be on my author page, but with a change in what I wanted there, it forced this poem into my listing. Enjoy.

I like the short concise lines used with this piece, I found it added to the smooth flow of the poem yet drew attention to certain words. The sparatic rhyme thrown in on the final lines:
    Flowers grow
    Words thrive
    All in the presence
    Of caring, thoughtful eyes

really fused those lines into my mind. Nicely written

    Sweet

when i write a poem, and im not concentrating too hard, just relaxed lettin if flow, its a feeling that you get like when your out in the sun allday and you go in and drink a tall glass of cold water, that cool quenching feeling...thats the best way ive been able to describe it as,
    "The light, my comfort
    The rain, my emotions
    Spilling out on paper"
    kick ass poem

    great job

"the best work of poetry is written when something strikes a chord in your brain."-me the famous poet walt whitman wrote a series of poems called leaves of grass. i heard it was good but haven't read them yet. another poet robert frost wrote a bunch of nature poems that captured the hearts and minds of his readers. i think that your poem here captures that very imagery by you describing what you believe a poet is. when someone tries to capture themselves on paper they suffer the doubts and worries that most people have but i believe that you didn't suffer when you were writing this piece. i think the exact opposite. i believe that you knew what you were doing which is truly brilliant and well worth the read. i love the background selection also. i have never used a watermelon as my background to one of my poems yet but i think it fits the idea of one tasting poetry for the very first time with this piece.
