The American Dream

Everyday I see the faces
Of those that work their fingers to the bone
For a measly 6 bucks an hour
To feed the hungry little faces at home
The fatherless children of the world
The children of broken homes
Parents sacrificing their dignity
So those little ones can eat
Everyday I witness squandering of hard earned money
To buy over priced goods
To put more money in the hands of those that already have everything
Everyday I see what could happen to me
A fast food bitch
Bow down at every request
To serve the hungry and the bored
Stuck here in the dirty south
Being a dirty poor wench of society
Everyday I dream about freedom
Of living the American dream
To be able to have enough of the green
To live off of and be happy
In the end it's all about the money

Author notes

I'm pissed off at the way things are going if you can't tell.
