Summer sunlight reflecting off the water
Someone beneath the surface stares back at me
Bright green eyes flutter under the waters light current
A hard life lived
Now showing through pain filled eyes
Lips of pale pink
No vibrant color of life left
Dry and chapped
Show the longing they hold
Yearning for just one more loving kiss
Freckled rose colored cheeks
Flush from loss of passion
Revealing the dying of an internal flame
Slightly kindling in the distance
Awaiting a love to ignite them once again
Chestnut brown hair
Lightly adorned with reddish under tones
Kissing the contours of a soft jaw line
Dark and dreary
Hanging limply over a set of weathered shoulders
A sad brow forming a frame around a tortured soul
Stress embedding itself upon it
Age taking it's toll
Staring back at the face staring at me
Reaching out my hand
Trying to help this seemingly lost soul
Beneath the water
My hands delves deeply
Ripples slowly pass over this sad face staring at me
Sighing deeply
Realizing beneath these rippling reflections
Lies a reflection of me

This poem has such pretty sound words. I especially loved "hanging limply over a set of weathered shoulders". It really defines the character. Best of luck in the contest.
