Living Aloft

Living aloft is not to live a lie,
for example when I tell you
the extent to which
I'm overpowered, stupefied
by my love for you,
it becomes a fiction,
only within quote marks,
only within poems.

Poets are not so much liars
as they are spinners of truths
of what might have been.

What might have been
more in keeping with the
harmony and aesthetic balance
between life and artifact?

To add a plus to a plus
is to surmise that two rights
are more symmetrical than
a right and a wrong.

That is not to say, however,
that there is anything wrong
with two wrongs;
there, also,
lies symmetry.
