Winds Of Time

The Winds of Time.

A gentle breath of air whispers softly around the tree of life.
Young tree stands strong and proud, leaves of experience shivering gently in the breeze.

Grains of sand tossed high into the branches, to sprinkle the leaves of experience with pain.
Wind of time grows stronger with each day passing by.

Tree of life begins to bend, to shiver and shake in the winds.
Leaves of experience tear and shred with each strengthening gust that blows.

Twigs of emotion snap and break tossed high in the sky by the winds.
Skies darken and glower as rain spatters and falls.

The sky is black and the wind is strong, blasts from every side.
Tree struggles to stand tall and proud.

But tree weakens with leaves of experience tattered and torn.
Branches of love broken and jagged, life's blood begins to flow.

Wounds of life, love, memory can clearly now be seen.
Winds of time howl and roar, stronger and faster they blow.

There is no stopping now the winds of time; nature’s fury at last breaks free.

Human nature, of love and of caring, of hatred and anger, of pain and despair once freed, can never be leashed.

The winds of time dance freely over the now wounded and broken tree.

Raging and ravishing, rending and ripping, the tree begins to fall.

The winds of time blow gently through the branches of a once proud tree, lain fragile and broken on the ground.

No pride, no strength, no dignity, is seen in this shattered soul.

Yet there, in a quiet sheltered place on this beautiful but wounded tree.

A whisper of green and yellow, shimmering gently on the breeze.

A leaf, a tiny leaf, tenacious to the last.

Author notes

I did not have a good life as a child and my struggle was long and hard, but once I had my children I discovered what love really was. They gave me hope.

What an amazing piece of imagery. This just moved right off the page!! It had some good sensory details in it and the word choice was good. A clever usage of nature to portray the struggle of life. Well done.

How wonderful this was; I'm terribly sorry that your childhood was a rough one, but I'm so happy things have turned around for both you and your children. This was a wonderful write; it was like a story told from the wisest in the village; such an inspiring write. Thanks for entering and joining the group.

    Enchanting, hopeful, wonderful!

OMG, what an incredible poem this is! It is amazing how you have used this tree to symbolize your life journey and the new growth to symbolize your offspring; which does indeed change the course of your life until you draw your final breath. I hope your life remains blessed

I am sorry, I cannot critique this piece. To do so would be a sin. I wouldn't touch it!

Kudos on a brilliant and beautiful piece of work!

Having children was a saving grace for me also. I could give the love that had lain dormant inside me for so many years. I can certainly understand your wonderful metaphor of the tree and what it means to you. A lovely poem indeed. Hugs, Patricia
