A Son's Promise

Missing image
Written by Charles (Onfire4Jesus)

As a son, I promise to always be there
I promise to always shower you in love
I promised you I would always care
and that we will walk together high above

As a son, I promise to Pray for you
and devote time with you everyday
As a son, my love will always carry through
and I promised you I would always pray

Now that I have made a few tough choices
and I had to stop something I loved to do
I had to do this, there were too many voices
I had to listen to the one who died for me and you

For His love will continue to bind our hearts
and He will protect us everyday we live
So know that you and I will never drift apart
and know the greatest gift we have is to forgive

Forgiveness comes only from the heart
it has been planted in each one of ours
And know that I've loved you from the start
and we will stay bonded by God's power

I will never leave your side, I will always be here
I will always shower you in my love and care
I will always be a phone call away, I'm always near
my dear mom, I will always covet you in my prayers

So no longer fear the thought of losing me
I am here forever and always to stay
I will love you forever and throughout eternity
and I will be here for you every single day

Author notes

A Mother's Promise For Charles

Charles you have really touched my heart again
by writing such a sweet and such a loving poem
my son I can not tell you what you mean to me
you always have a place in my heart and home

The bond God created between us is special
because it is between a son and a mother
I love you as if I had raised you from a baby
the tenderness we feel is like no other

You make me smile everyday my dear son
then call to say goodnight and God bless you
you always ask lovingly how are you doing
then ever so sweetly say, mom I love you too

Your phone call each day puts joy in my heart
your beautiful songs always make me smile
when we worship together I am so happy
To find Gods door I walked so many a mile

There will never be a day I don't love you
for you are my Christian son forever to me
you will teach me God's words from the Bible
we shall walk together in Heaven for eternity

    Good!

I'm not into all the Jesus stuff, frankly, but it seemed obvious to me that the two of you love each other immeasureably. Cling to that! I lost my mom when I was ten, and believe me, losing someone - in any way - is true horror. Best of luck to you, brave soldier, and I hope that you return with lots of great stories and not one scratch!
    God bless!

    Good Work

This is such a very beautiful poem. It tells me what is truly in your heart. I too would be happy to have you for my son. When we know God, we know his love. So, you have his gift. Use it to the best of your ability, and never fear "God is always Near." Hugs - AlmostHeaven
