Shark

Missing image

There once was a "Pit Bull"
called Shark
who had an incredible bark
he'd flitter a shoe
until he turned blue
or take it and hide in the park

A gentleman right through and through
but many were frightened..he knew
but his saving grace
was his small friend "Lace"
a kitten who shared his bed too..

On going to bed one fine night
they had such a terrible fright
a strange smell they smelt
and they thought they would melt
with the smoke coming under the door

They shouted so someone would hear
with the din that they made..mum appeared!
as she gathered them close
and they ran from the house
neighbours stood there and started to cheer

So the moral to this is quite clear
don't judge by the  fright or the fear
if treated with kindness
and love...there's a blindness
to shoe eating, barking and sneers...

Yes, I believe in England they are also on the list of "Banned" dogs. I believe that a problem with this breed is the fact that they have interlocking jaws, so do the "Bull Terrier" and the "Staffordshire Terrier" and probably other breeds also. On a lighter note, I had a friend who was the spitting image of his dog...he owned a "Bulldog " Me?..I have Poodles and Boxers...makes me a strange looking type

Ms Cutie, I was aware of the stats on which dogs actually do all the biting bite. Here Blue Heelers top the list followed by Kelpies then Labradors. – But they only bite people (‘it’s a dog delight to bark and bite’). Pitt Bulls worry me because of the damage they manage to inflict if for whatever reason they choose to attack someone. That’s why I said ‘concerned about people who feel a need to have a Bit Bull’ (I share the theory about bogs reflecting the behaviour, and appearance of their owner.) ----- as an aside – Pit Bulls have been banned in Australia – the law allows for people to keep trouble free dogs but they must de-sexed -- so within the next decade Australia will be a pit Bull free area. (hope the weather is looking good)

To be honest Wattle, with all the bad publicity around, the same could apply to G.S.D's, Dobermanns, Rottweilers etc..For it's size the Jack Russell takes some beating in ferousity..Did you know, in this country there are more recorded bites to children from Labradors and Yorkshire Terriers ..Glad you enjoyed this my friend

ha ha true ture, Never judge someone by what they do, judge them if you must, but remember to always trust the ones who can be trusted, and judge them from what they have done from that. LOl I think that makes sense,

I really loved the last stanza. I enjoyed how you write the whole poem as a series of limerick forms. I think you have a good chance to win in this contest. Good luck to you. *smiles*

This really is an adorable poem. The meter in this was catchy to say the least.

I'm probably one of the few that would advocate for the staffordshire terriers, but I do believe that all animals have their aggressive personalities in the pack and the runts... some in between. I guess I take the stance that it's almost all in the training and socialization of an animal versus saying they're pre-disposed to certain behaviors...

Then again, your poem is so damn cute with the dog's personality - I might have him looking like a stuffed animal puppy in my eyes by the time I'm done here.

Ms Cutie, Another wonderful verse, almost funny. Although, I must confess to being a little concerned about people who feel a need to have a Bit Bull. - Thank you.

    Very cute! ^^-^^

I just love these kind of rhymns! They are just so much fun to read! Course, then again, I love animals. My favorite lines:

~~There once was a "Pit Bull"
    called Shark
    who had an incredible bark
    he'd flitter a shoe
    until he turned blue
or take it and hide in the park~~

This was a really great way to start your poem. It was just so cute, you could just see him. You played 'Shark' out so well! I couldn't help but smile.

hehehehe This is so cute. I love the rhymne. And it kind of reminds me of the saying don't judge a book by its cover. Which is so true and I think this demostrates that very well. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. Thank you for the smiles and giggles this poem caused.
