Is it not?
That crazy, urgent,
Incessant, insatiable,
Feeling
That you want / need
To connect with that person,
Even if you don’t know
What about.
Doesn’t matter;
You just want to tap into their vibe,
Hang on to their inflections
Like orphaned morsels of cheesecake,
Savored on your tongue
Absorbing
The field of my attention
You manifest in soft smiles
A languorous body rush
Opens me up
I pour it out
And fill your saucer
So I dedicate this spark,
These delicious flames,
This aromatic inferno,
To what could be us
Giving really is
Receiving
Love truly is

Author notes
“Your last message prompted a poem in my head, so will work on this for a while. Thanks for the muse.”
The euphoria of love and infatuation endorphins firing is like no other feeling. Many relationships, not all, take off like an F-16 screaming down the runway, airborne in seconds. Many relationships do that; however some flights are shorter than others. Still the fact remains, that those endorphins kept you airborne for awhile. This is when we very quickly discover the divergence of love and infatuation, with the latter looking for a runway. I think many of us are addicted to that feeling of G-Force on our hearts, but ultimately we ache for the long and steady flight where we soar with another.
When we can receive graciously and give in return without measure, we slide into the slipstream that carries us along, turbulance and all. And that's flying, it’s the brass ring.

Wow... this is a great poem. There seems to be a theme I am randomly reading poems and so many recent poems are about love (the holidays just might have something to do with this)
Great poem and take care! -
Im not sure if I know what trully love is. Sometimes i think i never loved so i cant understand nothing about love. So much wonderful your poem. Hugs from Brazil.

wonderful poetry Ferge, such an awesome task; yet you found wonderful expressions insightful of love....you bring a smile upon me inside and out.

love really is such a force of nature...the strongest emotion of all that we share as a human race. as i read this, i began to really visualize all the little things that seem to render me speechless when i try to dscribe what it was like to be truly in love. when those deep eruptive feelings are returned--it is just euphoria!
Thanks for this stunning poetic journey!

Very nice. I especially liked, "I fill your saucer"...could be saucy, could be spiritual, could be so many things...could simply be the act of pouring out for someone else...

insightful as ever :)
"When we can receive graciously and give in return without measure, we slide into the slipstream that carries us along, turbulance and all. And that's flying, it’s the brass ring"
Your own commment summed up the piece far better than my own meager attempts ever could. I can, however, say that I have met few who have the capacity to "receive graciously and give in return". those that can, and do, are rare, beautiful souls.
its gorgeous, Cowboy

I had to smile at your line..."hang on to their inflections"
I am such an auditory person that I can become infatuated with the sound of a voice. It doesn't have to be an accent, (though that can send me into shivers LOL ) but the voice is a direct line to my errogenous zones.
Nothing like cheesecake crumbs and love's endorphins!
Enjoyed this Henri!

to soar in the steady runway is my choice
I did love this -
"Giving really is
Receiving" that's what i used to believe too :-)
A beautiful poem full of hope and promise. Lovely indeed.

oh, and i LOVE cheesecase (truly) ;-)

quite a lovely piece ... i can tell u lived a bit too, but what really make the verse is the ending
These delicious flames,
This aromatic inferno,
To what could be us
and what love really is -
How true Henri ! The initial passion can be quite addictive, even misconstrued as 'love' in the purest sense of the word I suppose. Its what remains when the excitement diminishes ( though never completely I hope ). Think you have captured this beautifully. Your poetic expression is always thought provoking.
And more often than not leaves me with a smile.

Excellent! A pleasure to read!
The thing that's so great about infatuation is..it doesn't even have to be reciprocated (although that is the ideal). I have enjoyed many infatuations with celebrities (enjoying the sight and sound of them and that is enough). Love, on the other hand, is a whole different ballgame..more down to earth..requiring sacrifice and commitment..but, ultimately, much more rewarding.
Enjoyed your poem, as I always do. Coincidentally, the image you used to accompany your poem was used several times in a montage for Constantine, the Greek celebrity melting many fans' hearts since he appeared on American Idol.
Very nicely done!

This touches on what some fall into addition with, when we fall in love, the chemical high. Absolutely love this..I think men are quicker to reach for the brace ring. I could be wrong. Love the picture you chose for this, the whole combination of poem and image are dramatic. Nice work Henri.

I recall similar feelings; your words feel familiar... I hope that is yogurt in that bowl
Enjoyed your poetic explosion! Take care,

I really like this poem! You've done an awesome job of talking about all the conflicting emotions we experience with love.
This is absolutely excellent.
Great work!
Love and light,

Wow
I was really amazed by this piece -
awsome idea but the poem itself doesnt relate that same extreme feeling of euphoria like you describe with the G Force of the F16 airflight. Very well written piece but now reading your author's notes I want to hear a poem of yours talking of love but making it a flight. A Giant 747 on take off and ready for the power of love! Awsome ideas and creativity you have! Congrats on a great piece!

Very visual, expressive poem. Love is not just a word, but an emotion, so any person speaking any language is bound to FEEL and know what it is... but I would have to say that about the rest of the emotions. I liked the style and fluidness of this poem. Very nice write, and I hope to read more by you soon.
Keep writing, Miji -
excellent depiction
nice poem, I love your words -
That bowl of milk makes my stomach hurt!! Just kidding ...
I enjoy your work Henri, and always look forward to the author's comments section as well! Most often you have a knack for sharing wonderfully wise thoughts,(at least I perceive it to be as such). I love how you compare the acceleration of love to "an F-16 screaming down the runway." In the poem, I really liked "You manifest in soft smiles", really had a warm feel to it.
Excellent expression,
Brian -
i like this a lot...it reminds me of the way one of my friends writes, using simple symbolic things like cheesecake and saucers...i used to hate that...but now i see that it really makes poems unique and even more beautiful

I agree, love is kind of a universal thing, funny that none of us understand what we all feel.
