Ever, Do You?

Do you sleep-
ever- do you slumber?

Stroll or run
the watermark to
land with the hamstrings
of  metric feet

clicking, tapping
never napping,

Do you wander in
your sleepwalk
near an open flame
before you wake

do you,
do you verse
from an abundance
of some mystic source

of course,
you do,
don't you?

do you, now and then
lay down the pen,

eat or find
the bowl of content
off any other table.

Ever, does your heart
bo peep

do you,
ever, do you
sleep?

Thank you for your reading my work, and I don't know how to explain this one except in these September years of mine... I'm relaxing to a more clear observation and the files of rhythm and rhyme just jump in more. Finally! I'm brain-washed..hehehe.

    for you

Another brilliant piece of yours that I've read, the rhythm of this one was undeniably excellent. Love the background too. You must have an excellent ear and a superb eye for words to have created a piece such as this.

This so fits...wow! You got the recipe and cooked it just right. Heck...I didn't even know there was a recipe! Wait. Maybe poets are sometimes cut of a like cloth. A delightful and teasing read. Charming. Peace Through Love. ET

Good questions in your poem ... I like how you repeat through out it ... it has a message that all readers should be able to think about and relate to ... great job expressing yourself! ... Mz

I love the repetitive rhythm. That's what stood out to me first and made it really nice to read. This is the kind of poem I can almost hear being read aloud to an audience. I like how the poem seems to be directed right at the reader, making it personal and giving it impact. It had a strong, subtle message. I really liked reading.

    cool

Well-well I have read a couple of your early poems through a friend of mine who liked your poems enough to write a short tribute.
And the progression you have made... the writing of the last year or so makes for glorious reading.
This poem is a sort of tribute to meter to. It goes down like warm honey on a winter's morning.

^_^ I really like this. Your way of starting the stanzas is creative, and your word choices are perfect. It surely hooks the reader. I'll be sure to check Erin Thomas out, he must be very talented, just as yourself. Keep up the fantastic work, and Blessed Be.

Thanks, Bezoar....! You're so kind. I only know how many folks respect his pursuit of the art of poetry. I like to be the one in the corner that notices...ever since I was on that stupid dunce cap chair in 4th grade. Only one person didn't laugh.

    Well!

    Now THAT explains a lot..Heh.
Being a Greeter here, my name stays in the list for over 20 mins after I get off, and then I miss some requests to the Help Desk, with which we are responsible.

I like your response and just wanted you to know that, in spite of my lack of responding to some of your emails since the Starlite days, I've never wanted to not hear what you've got in the pot cooking.

As for your means to live, heck! There's always WalMart and serving jobs. They're very en vogue these days. Seems folks are always shopping to extend their entertainment venues, and going out to eat to taste them.

I'd be pleased to have you write and critique (Level 2) any of my work as well.

Bless you and may the Lord be Your constant witness to your nearly unbelievable practicality and pursuit of the word art.

    CookieZeal!

well... well, i do sleep, more than i'd like to actually. the question you should ask is "do i make a living", and the answer to that is "no", hence the time i have for my studies as well as sleep. lol don't ask me how i live. some higher being seems to be managing that for me.

i lay down the pen, too, to read. just wish i could read faster and retain more.

very nice tribute here. you've seen my work progress from rambling free verse to what it is today, since the days of the starlite cafe with sharon o'neal if i'm not mistaken (she has a profile here you know but i forget what her id is).

i like the "hamstrings of metric feet" image. that one's fun.

i don't know what's driving me, or if it will amount to anything of value, even remote value, but for some reason i'm happier pursuing my art as a "poet" than i have ever been pursuing anything else.

as for "an abundance of some mystic source"--i should show you one of full project poem docs sometime. i think you'd get a kick out of reading through the whole thing with all the notes. over the years i've developed methods that help me keep my creative processes going. one such method is to just free associate when i'm not sure where i'm going or what i'm going to write, and this invariably leads to material that i get to use in a poem.

well... guess it's time for me to finish this comment on ethereal-dust's "Ship of Fools" poem. got the meters all identified, now i need to go through and offer thoughts on the stanzas.

Forever the mystery and mystical question beautifully stated.
( for me there is no fire and eating, only an obstacle to prevent my continuity. )
