How do I say goodbye?
Leave you stunned we don’t see eye to eye
Speechless you stare
Wondering “Why don’t you care?”
What have you done to turn me away?
Why do I cry all day?
Cause you’re my friend and that’s all I find
When I look in my heart and in my mind.
A decade has passed since first we met
Life was good. I’ve no regrets
But, now I say “Good-bye”
And still, you keep wondering, “Why?”
How many times must I voice
I am incomplete, feeling I’ve no choice
I MUST end this pain
What more do you want me to explain?
“Good-bye! It’s over! Don’t persist!
Please understand I MUST insist
Let me go! Set me free!
Please, understand and let me be.

very nice flow to this piece...pure heartbreak...you have delivered the message of confussion on both sides very poeticly...the last stanza stands out...good luck in the contest...Peace Abel

steven thank you for your kind words. Coming from a man so greatly talented it is a high honor indeed.

This was quite a contrast from Intraspection. I can hear the passionate plea as I read through this, so I think you have very successfully portrayed the emotional side of the poem. The rhyming scheme you have used is a difficult one to make work naturally, but you have done it quit well. Nice write, my friend.
