Red Ribbon Army

The lonely road twists, bends, extends on.
A Mobius road intertwining within itself,
Like a spaghetti bowl with one long noodle.
Too long for a pedestrian, yet I wander.

Doppleganger, loping along beside me
Mimicking my every step, gesture, song
Mocking me, slapping me, Kicking me around
I hate him, my own shadow.

A bright light blinding the eye
Whistling a happy tune to myself
Song blasting full in my head
"... Damn not an Angel When I die!"

The endless labyrinth of exits and ramps
Destination Zero on to the horizon
Where the road leads, I may never know
All I know is I'm not really alone.

Author notes

The phrase in Quotations comes from Rammstein's song "Engel", translated into English. Different songs inspired each stanza.
