brink

sweat
shining on hard hide,
heaving shoulders.
the swish of a tale;
irritation.
blood
d r i p s
to the dirt floor,
stains it
as it has been stained before,
and never cleaned.
and the cries of the people
hungry for event,
hungry for glory,
grimaces spread across
in gross pleasure.
time
s l o w s.

and the young man
with his hot cape
and proud hat,
shaking with fear,
hold his head high

and waits.

    A suspense builder!

I applaud your creativity in writing about the Pit Bulls from a different & realistic view! I found it to be a graphic tension builder, as well as an emotion getter...well done! I hate the sad reality that so many people fight their Pits!!! Thank you for entering my contest. Peace, Syah
