Complacent

A traveler through this land merely am I
Though unbeknownst the reasons why
Seeking wisdom's fair and gracious gift
Helping others should fate deem to permit
Of virtue and morality would be my claim
Though often persuaded by selfish gain
Always attentive to endure life’s changes
And prosper from the knowledge it arranges
Knowing more is before my feeble reach
Not satisfied until the pinnacle is breached
Still no wiser to this worlds trivial dilemma
I concede complacency to my agenda
Keeping sight of the front and aft
I stumble onward down this path

Author notes

Just some scribbling whilst on the road.

It would be great if my muse would actually talk to me while I drove, I mean like Im not asking it to drive to the next town or anything just a friendly conversation about the spurs/pistons game or that hot red head at the truck stop......lol.
I appreciate you stopping in and have a read through this write. It has been fun to learn about some of the northern states and see the scenary. I simply love the mountians and crystal clear streams, they are beautiful. Have a good one and take care.

Ah hah so you missed my write, I knew you missed it, I knew it, I knew it. Here I was thinking that you were cold and heartless and to come to find out you missed me........lol.
I do understand what you are talking about, if you gaze upon the barren dessert for days and see no grass it is hard to convince the eye that a single reed has returned to inhabit the mirror of heat.
You have most deffinately sensed the weary part and correctly assumed that I need a rest. Do I have to keep stumbling? I would much rather lie down and bask in the dusty road until my portly figure rolls like a barrell. Thanks for the comment and take care of yourself girl.

I have paused but I think it was that the next step was hurting this mileage ridden body more than the last had......lol. The road has afforded me some grand images and a little savvy on the customs of those way to involved in thier own life to see that the world is slowly passing them by.
I guess a good mark on the wall lets you know if you are digressing or progressing. I fear the latter for myself. I just cant walking down the aisles at Toys R Us singing "I dont wanna grow up, Im a toys r us kid, theres a million toys at toys r us that I can play with......from bikes to trains to video games, its the single biggest toy store there is "
Have a good one man and take care. Hope to pass by up there one day and visit the shop.

At last I return to compliment those that left comments.....lol. Now to be honest I dont know if anyone shall know that I even passed through thier humble town or if they took notice as I stole thier 19 year old daughter and showed her the stars of the nights blanket........lol. But I do know that I have compiled a list of resturants and places that had some tasty grub. I plan to scribe a bound tome entitled nutty, naughty, nibbling and release it to the masses for a hefty sum so that I may once again return and graze upon the banquet that these places have to offer. Care to nibble your way across the states with a master grazing locater?
I shall pass on the clap unless you are just set upon me having it. I always enjoy your delightful comments, they bid a smile to fall upon my face. Thank you and take care.

I guess I haven't looked at your page for the last few days...or if I did look at it my brain simply chose to see what it has seen for the last couple of months. I can think of no other explanation or excuse for missing this piece! My apologies....especially after bugging you all the time to post something!
This is obviously a write from the Weary Wanderer, albeit an excellent write at that! Keep stumbling, my friend!

Howdy stranger...must be pausing in your travels to reflect a bit and offer us the wisdom of the road.

This comes across as an honest account of measuring oneself -- and finding it satisfactory at this stage in journey. Well written Sir -- you have certainly evolved as a poet.

Well, well well - look who it is! The traveling man with the rubber chicken keychain
It's good to keep an eye on front and aft..just don't look aft while walking forwards
You must write more and regale us with your adventure stories
All the daring escapes..the near misses
The wisdom and courage you must have attained from your journey..it just boggles my mind!
Your name will go down in history - along side the great explorers...Columbus, Cartier, Cabot, Flintstone, Fudd, Magoo, West - yep, gosh, i am in awe!
They'll erect a statue in your image...or statue your erection
Loved this HammeR - what a treat as always! I'll give you the clap

To be honest I havent stopped writing though now days it is segmented and seems hard to piece the scribblings together to express the true meaning of the thought. Travelling across the states doesnt leave much time to sit and enjoy the words that flow freely through this noodle.....lol. I would also like to say thank you for the lovely comment and the sweet sentiment. I do so enjoy the company within the confines of AP. A better lot anyone would be hard pressed to find!! It is good to once again share the hearth of this tavern, hearing the delightful voices of each minstrel and bard alike. Take care sanity.

I am so pleased you are writing again, this is absolutely brilliant, it sounds like a traveller(which I know you are on the road) not just on the road for reasons of getting from place to place, but a person who is travelling a personal journey across the roads of his life, and each ounce of knowledge earned will be another bridge crossed, the ending fits brings the piece to an entirety........I love this and like I said, great to have you back, looking forward to more scribbling..............
